Can’t wait to get this one finished up. 1977-1979 Blue. This one was stitched to use the chrome Medallions. It’s going to be nice!
Fully restored.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Got a couple more built this week. The Black Custom Deluxe is staying right here in town. It went to my friend that helps me out with sandblasting. I can do most of the sandblasting myself, but I’ll let him do all the ones that are a little more rusty. He has a commercial size sandblaster. He restores old tractors. So with his, he can get them done a lot faster than I can.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Couple questions for you. on the plastic bezel seat belt opening, the NOS covers have a sewn in reinforcement with a vinyl flap in that area. Do you cut that out to use the sandwich plastic pieces?

Also, on the fixed back crew cab front seat, do yo have any good pics of how the vinyl comes together at the base of the back? Like the pics here I took from your thread, but I would like to see if the crew cab back is different since its more visible. My cover from SMS has an extra apparently finished on both sides vinyl flap on the front side of the back. See that last pic, I'm just checking to get that orientation correct.

Thanks

My seats don’t have that sewn in plastic piece. But I did just do a seat not long ago for someone, and he supplied his NOS cover. It did have those hard plastic things on there, but I took them off and put the correct seatbelt bezels on.

The Crewcab seat cover is exactly the same as the single cab seat, and the rear seat of a Crewcab. There is no difference in the cover.
The 3rd picture of the CarmineRed seat of mine. That is a 77-80 seat, so the cover is not the same as the 81-87. These are the only pictures of the Crewcab seats that I have, but they are the same as far as the cover.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

A question for you about the blue velour deluxe seat. I have redone my interior pieces with SEM color coat in shadow blue. How does the color of the blue velour seat compare to the SEM shadow blue. The seat looks different on both my computers so its hard to judge.

I only use dye from USA1 Industries, it's a perfect match. They use SEM, but it's Custom Color, because see has discontinued the colors for our trucks. USA1 has the correct colors.

Here is an 81-87 Charcoal Velour Deluxe I built for someone. Fully restored frame, tracks and hardware. I used a NOS seat bottom foam on this seat.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Tina does great work and in an inspiration for sure. I was trying to exactly match my original Crew Cab rear bench and she did not have the correct vinyl from her sources, so after a 10 month wait for some NOS vinyl I finally DYI'd my seat project. Stealing of course many tips from this great thread.

Now looking for a home for the buckets and console but this looks so cool with the correct bench back in place! Added bonus in the heat element pads I put in during the process.

2 of the 3 seats were picked up this weekend. Last one will be picked up next weekend. Finally, I’ll have room again in the garage!

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Shipped this 81-87 Black Vinyl out to NC. I’m going to start slowing down on the seat restorations. And the 1st thing that will slow things done is shipping these seats. Packing a seat is a job in itself.
