Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

looked at a 84 k5 with a tpi conversion with blown headgasket and new raptor 700r4 trans.. Replaced front wheel bearings in my ranger beater. took my 2000 trans am to the drag strip. ran a 7.98, my exhaust dropped off going threw the lights. Ran one more time with no muffler, ran 7.85 lol. 1/8th mile track btw.

Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

Changed oil and filter in all the cars/trucks, I felt like Jiffy Lube.

Ordered a pair of aluminum heads for the 383 in my S10. The motor ended up with too much compression so new heads should help out.

Bought a new (to me) toy this morning, should be a blast at car shows and cruise-ins.

Cool Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

Pulled the front clip and engine for the donor chassis my dad and I are sourcing for our frame off. My friend just wanted the cab, engine, and front bumper. Everything else is a free score.

We had to quit because of the heat and the uncooperative cab bolts. We'll be going back with a cutting torch later.

I'm even going to keep the headers. Probably sandblast and paint them, would getting them coated be worth it?

Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

I went and put new tires on the blazer, also bought a new battery and front and rear brakes. I got most of the top end stuff put back together. Gotta get it up on the lift so I can get bottom stuff buttoned up. Plan to have it running by this weekend

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...wpost&t=416788

also ordered the drop spindles and flip kit and the stuff to rebuild the front suspension and steering in anticipation of getting the coys from Josh.

Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

Well cleaned the garage moved tools to a new box.
79 Beater (building to sell and finance other truck):
secured the exhaust
Figured out the ignition issues
Secured Plug Wires
hung hood hinges and hood
changed fluids
attempted to drive said truck only to find that the front brakes were #&$) up as I was burning rubber every take off. Had to cut break lines up front to get back to the house.
Parked it to sort out down the line.

78(the keeper)
Ran out of time this evening had other engagements to attend started cleaning up the engine bay. Removed the bad ac compressor, drained the oil started removal of the valve covers when I had to leave it. Hopefully I can finish it up tomorrow night wife willing.

Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

Hauled half a ton of scrap tin to the yard. Took wifey to breakfast and bought food for dinner, came out about even.
Started preparing for the garage and barn doors (should be this week!).
Used the tractor to pick the 6.2 off the shed floor and put it on its stand
Screwed the loose parts back on the hurt 250 in the barn and used the tractor to put it into the shed
Used the tractor to pull the 194 out of the garage and put it into the shed, take the 250 and the 700R4 out of the garage and put them in the back of the barn
Took all the Allis parts except the main chassis out of the garage and put them in the back of the barn (about 3 truck loads, 200' by hand. Gotta love teenagers).
Put rear tires on the Allis chassis, lifted the front with the picker, and moved it clear of the door. On the good side, it has tires for the first time in 5 years, and the brakes broke free, and the trans too. On the bad side the diff and clutch are still fubar.
Took all the spare truck parts and tools out of the garage and put them in the barn (about another 20 trips). Rearranged what's left in the garage so the new doors can be installed.

I'm worried my wife is right, I might actually have too much stuff.

Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

Worked on a bed cover, trying out some new material to see now it's going to work. It's alumilite, aluminum with corregated plastic in the middle. Painted the console. That's going to have to be redone. Freaking paint ran like crazy. New gravity feed gun works better than my old one. Just sprays too darn fast. Made plans for a family get-together Labor Day weekend. My aunt's not doing well (cancer). May be the last time we get to see her in fair health. Please say a prayer for her.

Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

I went from the engine stand-

To the the motor mounts-

Alot of work though. Nothing went easy. Had hard time getting it in the mounts, hard time getting transmission to align, hard time getting headers back on. Don't know why. Same block that came out. PITA
Not running yet. Still have a few things to do, ie: fuel lines, water neck, alt, dist, ect.

Sorry for the bad pictures.

Re: What did you get done 8/22/10 edition

Ran calls all day Saturday, so no progress. Sunday I got up early and worked the yard till it got hot. Washed the daily drivers and did some maintance on them.

Sunday evening I finally got a chance to work on my Ride Tech e3 install. I will give a full report in my build thread, but this is a rough idea of how one side came out. I still need to tweak the sensor arms, and adjust the length.
