Question 205 t-case question

Hey fellas, I was wondering if all 205 t-cases that are attached to 350 turbos are the same??

I have a 350 turbo with a 203 and would like to find a 205 that came off of a 350 turbo.

Will the driveshafts(1977 K5 Blazer) from my rig(203 d44/12bolt) work on a 205??

Thanks in advance.

Re: 205 t-case question

It somewhat depends up what year you are talking about....but in general automatic trans equipped trucks cam with NP 203 t'cases and 4 speed trucks got the NP205.

The driveshafts probably are going to work anyway. The NP203 is a bigger/longer t'case, so your rear driveshaft would be too short.

As for the front, even if the length would work, there is difference in the yokes. Most of the NP203s that I have seen have a square-ish flange for the driveshaft to bolt onto. The 205 style had a more traditional saddle yoke.

I'm not saying that it can't be done, but it's not "common".

Re: 205 t-case question

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. A lot of later K30s came with TH400s and NP205s, and every combination of 400/350/SM465 and NP203/205/and 208s is readily available in my area. They are out there, we just traded exactly what you're looking for out of a 73 K20 along with some other stuff for some wheels and tires. If you are looking for a th350 to NP205 look at the earlier trucks. 73 to say 77? Esp. K20s. I know that the 4WD th350 had several output shafts, I think four different ones IIRC, so you will probably will have to swap yours to the correct one once you find a 205 and 205 to th350 adapter. Another thing to consider, since you more than likely will be looking at tearing your th350 apart to swap output shafts, is swapping it all for the more common th400-NP205. Hope that helps some...

Re: 205 t-case question

Yo!
Yeah! My '73 flatbed came with a TH350/NP205. I swapped my '78 FRANKENTRUCK (that came with TH400/NP203) to TH400/NP205. Even that can still be done, with the right sources, to this day.
Output shafts and inputs are different. If I recall correctly, you'll need a short output to the TH350/NP205 adapter, and a short input for the NP205,...they are tied together with a short male shaft through the adapter.
Driveshaft will need to be customized later.
Todd.
