Re: Need help with truck 60'

I run 175 rear springs and 8.5psi in similar slicks. My 60' is no better though.

Re: Need help with truck 60'

Not as though this matters, but I'm running a 130# spring on cheep single adjustable Chassisworks adjustable coilovers set full stiff, stock 66 1/2ton front springs with a coil cut off, and a front SWAY BAR. If course the 4link and 33x17-15 QT Pros 5.43 gear and 4800 verter 4.30 - 4.86 gear (it didn't care or change with either one) probably have a lot to do with the 1.44 sixtys in only a 10.50 truck.

You guys just need more tire

in fact i got a brand new pair sitting on the shelf,, with wheels,, if anyone can find enough wheelwell for em!

Re: Need help with truck 60'

Got the truck home. Shocks at ride height middle of bolt hole to middle of bolt hole are 14.5-14.75"
Trailing arm front bolt is 10" off ground

Can you move the trailing arm bolt to 5-6" off the ground?

How much compression is available in the shock?

Re: Need help with truck 60'

I'm gonna pull the rear shocks off tomorrow to change springs gs. I'll measure the shocks actual compressed and extended length to see how much is available. The lowest I can get the bolt is 8.5 inches off the ground

Re: Need help with truck 60'

I have tried the trailing arm bolt at 8.5" off ground before. Never made it to the track like that. with the trailing arm bolt lowered to 8.5" and when i had the landrum 18" 250lb front springs it would spin the drag radials non stop from all speeds on the street and would pull the front left suspension up HARD. We moved the mount up to ten inches and it calmed the truck way down.

Maybe it needs to go back down to 8.5 inches

Re: Need help with truck 60'

You were spinning AND lifting? At least in my truck, those things happen on opposite ends of the spectrum.

When it was lifting, did it feel like you were hitting/maxxing anywhere on the other (right) side? If she lifts hard and hits max, then it could be actually unloading you, instead of staying "on" the hit.

Exactly what the ce shocks would do to me. Could not control the spring.

Re: Need help with truck 60'

Same nitrous settings as last weekend. 10 psi in slicks. New front shocks at full soft. Setup rear shocks like Super 73 recommended and put the 175 lb/in springs on rear. 1.55 60' this pass. Ended up having the battery come lose and shut the truck off.

Tightened front shocks up 1 click and made another pass. 1.53 60' but it appears to have torn the tube in the slick slicks are screwed to rims but I put no baby powder in between tire and tube. When I got back to trailer tire was completely flat and wouldn't hold air in tube (leaked out between valve stem and wheel) I'll post a video of this pass. Appears to have way better weight transfer

Everything the same as the other pass I just posted except front shocks at full loose. Battery came loose and shut the truck down ( oops)

Yeah the truck had unknown rear springs that mounted over a generic shock. Shocks were completely shot and I have no idea what the springs were... so I bought real coilovers and springs that I actually knew the lb/in on

Re: Need help with truck 60'

Still spinning a bit on the 1.53.
Lca still at 10" ?
Truck looks like it has a little roll to it as it leaves the line. Do you have an anti roll bar?
Give the right rear 2 clicks tighter than the left on the bound if no antiroll or on a stock rear anti roll.

I bought an antiroll bar a year ago but I was told I should get springs and ride height figured out before I put it on.
LCA is still at 10"
I can tighten up the right rear shock next time out. It didnt spin so bad that the rear kicked out this weekend...so definitely an improvement there. Wish I could have made more passes.

Re: Need help with truck 60'

Put the antiroll bar on it. When the axle wraps up in to the pass rear wheel well and the driver goes down out of the wheel well, it makes your left/right lca length unequal. This creates a bumpsteer issue in the rear suspension and will point you either left or right out of the hole. Mine used to point me right until I put a home made 1 3/4" antiroll bar on it. Then it left level and straight every pass.

That should be my next step? I'm gonna replace the tire tube and put baby powder in it this time and it'll probably be 2 or 3 weeks before I can make it back out so I'll see if I can get someone to weld it up for me.

Do you think I should try lowering the LCA after I get the antiroll bar situated?

I have been watching , but make sure the tips of the screws are not poking threw the tire and cutting the tube . I just nip the sharp part of the tip of with a flap wheel

Days like this make beadlocks seem like such a good investment.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't had time to see what actually happened... I was worried about the screws not actually penetrating the tire and the tire spun. That or when the tire wadded up it ripped the tube. This is the first time I've had a slick screwed to a rim with tubes inside. And this also the fastest 60' the trucks ever seen

Re: Need help with truck 60'

The blown apart one was the one that wouldn't hold air at all. The other side separated at the valve stem when I tried to put the baby powder in it. I only had the money for 1 tube so I'm just gonna leave them out for now and see how it does. The screws are penetrating the tire but are not going all the way through. These hoosier are pretty thick at the bead

Re: Need help with truck 60'

Got called out last night so I put jets for 150 shot. 9.5 psi in tires no tubes. 3 clicks from soft on front shocks. It wouldn't make this pass again. Spun rest of night. I contacted Landrum about front springs and I'm gonna lower the truck arms and get the anti roll put on.
