I got the rear frame all bare and the rearend cleaned up. The new spring kit is here and i have a 4 day weekend, should be fun!

Its been a good weekend! i finished up painting the rear and installing the suspension. It went pretty well, just a lot of holes to drill. Before anyone asks..i left the "mickey mouse ears on the rear end because it is an original 12 bolt 1970 chevelle ss big block and worth pretty crazy money.

I installed my new hookers and fabbed up the exhaust welded up the joints and installed it. I just wish i had remembered hangers!

so i spent a little time in the garage today. I patched the gas filler hole and a hole that had a power switch in it that was just below the filler. I made my inner cab corner fillers and welded them in. cleaned up the whole inside area and primed it. When it dries ill seam seal it all up tight and the corners are done!

You have some crazy skills there my man! That truck is in real good shape for being 55 years old.

UPDATE: The truck came with a diamond plate floor in the bed. I never really cared for it and prefer the wood look so i cut out the dp and installed all new cross sills and raised the deck 2" . Ive got that all layed out and ready for finish but i am waiting on some trailor fenders for my wheel tubs. \
My daughter bought me a new 21 circuit ez harness with switches so i cut out all of the old harness.....WOW! real old school electriton work there lol, not a fuse in it just breakers and resets. I plan on buying a new insert and gauges. / Now that the dash is stripped im going to fill all the extra holes and ashtray and smooth it out. The last owner had installed and molded in a radio plate wich i cut out, i intend to put the radio in the glove box./ I still need to get and install a gas tank and am planning on using a mustang. All for now |

u got that rite kim. i thought i read every thing but what kinda switch was below the fuel hole on the cab, that part didnt make any sense

you started out with a truck anyone would have been proud to ride around in. your just making it better. gmc always had better looking grills on their trucks, yours is outstanding.  back in the 77 i installed the same sort of keyed switch in my 59 panel truck for an alarm, we didn't have remotes back then.

Ive been busy working on my wheel tubs. I bought a pair of trailer fenders and cut them down to 4.5". I didnt like the idea of the seam or flat corners so i switched the backs of them around to the rounded side. I think they look much better but its a good thing my time is free! I got them mounted up and just need to finish blending them in and install my cross sills then its back on the dash.
