Just read through your build, nice work. I bet that painted cab is a sight for sore eyes after all that work you put into it.

Congrats!!! Enjoy yourself, that trucks not going anywhere. Remember, you'll need that little ladies "advice" in your future endeavors with this truck, future trucks, and your racing interests as well. Never heard of Punta Cana, but it sounds nice.

Thanks everybody! We returned from the honeymoon early yesterday morning, and I made my way over to the shop today. Dad and I installed the lower control arms, pressed in the lower balljoints, and shot some paint on a bunch of small parts/hardware. If anyone has a good reference for front suspension torque specs, please post up a link. I'll be searching for that information in the morning.

We installed the upper control arms today, then turned our attention to the spindles and springs. We'll be using a pair of CPP 2.5" drop spindles (the non-modular ones) and stock coils. We taped off the machined surfaces and stuck them in the blast cabinet to remove the as-delivered paint, then everything received a coat of primer.

Shot the front coils and spindles in hammered silver today (same paint as the interior of the cab).

We slapped the front suspension together today. We were hoping to stick a pair of Cragar S/S's that Dad bought back in the late-60's on it and set it on the ground, but they didn't clear the caliper mounting ears on the spindles. So, it'll continue to ride jackstands for a bit. You can actually see the old Polyglas bias-plys in the background.


I just set a caliper in place for a quick photo/visual. They'll stay on the shelf for now.

Holey moley! We set the mill up to compensate for the 0.5 degree taper, then bored six lightening holes into the first of the two trailing arms.


The holes will be sealed via 2-1/4" tubing, which slips snugly into place. I'll work on welding these up tomorrow.

Managed to get this one smoothed out today before running out of supplies. The next step will be to blast the mill scale off and put it into primer. I just need to get the other one dressed first.

Smoothed out the welds on the second one yesterday. They're just about ready to blast and prime.
