Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
Not many of you kow that I had motor probloms and ended up taking it back out. My comp cam took a crap in the motor so you know what you have to do all new parts and to much money.. I ended up putting a 515 Lunati in it and took the block to B&B Racing to did all the good things that need to do. So here are some pics when I got it back from them. Sorry for the back pics, I will get some better ones soon..

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
Today I put the motor back in and put the new valve covers on, also made some power steering lines and trans lines too, I am trying to take my time to run everything as clean as you can. Hope to start it up next week, I need to make it to a show in about 3 week, so I need to get my butt going.. And again sorry for the bad pics, I will post some better ones soon..

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
First off your blazer is one of the nicest I have ever seen. I am rebuilding my 82 SWB that was previously bagged. I did not like the set up so I rebuilt the frame, flipped the rear, and put springs on the front. I remember the last truck I had with just springs rode terrible. My question for you is, when you have the front of your blazer aired up for driving how high do you have to air it up for a smooth ride? With my old air ride set up the front had to be up and the rear was down for it to be a smooth ride and I hated the overall look of it.
Thanks and nice ride again. Jason |

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
Here are some pics of it going down the road. As long as the road is in good shape then I run about 60 PSI and it sits level. And thanks for the kind words.

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
I have searched this post several times looking for an answer to my question and also because you have such a beautiful specimen of a Blazer. I am very envious of your work. My questions has been partially covered. What is the back spacing on the first set of wheels you had and are they TT 2's?
I'm new here, so thank you in advance! |

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
Hey Trav, I am kicking myself. Just got back to Canada from Florida and stayed in Knoxville on the way home. Should have looked you up. I would loved to have seen that beaut up close.
Love the tan interior over the gray. You are one talented guy. Beautiful truck! Now I REALLY miss mine. May have to buy Ken's?? It deserves a mag feature!!!!!!!!!! Regards, Doug |

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
Doug you should have let me know, you could have come by and check it out. And thanks man for the cool words..
mongoose, I will post a pic up for ya, I had it on the road for about two years then sold the wheels last year, I could not keep it on the road after I made it a CR540 with about 75HP and that dose not sound like much, but when the bike is under 200 Pounds that's a lot.

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
theres a sport spretty populair here as a starter racing class in motorsports where they lower those bikes a little and put slick under them and use those bikes for roadracing , its verry nice to see them powerslide those bikes across the tarmac in the corners

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
Trav, I go every winter, stay in Lex or Knox on the way down and back, depending on weather.
I will get in touch next year on the way and pop in if you don't mind. Love to see it. Regards, Doug |

Re: 78 2wd Blazer build
I did a little more work today on the blazer, I finished up the motor today and made a set of covers out 20 gauge for the wiper cowl and put some flat on them. I think it gives it a cleaner look, I was going to weld them up but I may need them sometime down the road. The gauges are in and working and now I am getting ready for a big show this coming weekend so I need to start doing some cleaning. I will get a clip of the motor running this week, it sounds wild with all the new parts I put in it, plus open headers it sounds even better! B&B Racing built the long block and said with my heads and carb set up it should be at 475-500 HP I hope I will get time to drive it a little this week before the show..
