Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

The price for just the steering box adapter plate is still the same as in post #1 of this for sale thread........$60.00 shipped. If you also purchase the tube and flange the total is $81.65. Yes it comes with installation instructions and the locating template.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If your '67 is a 2wd, you do not need this adapter plate. All you need are four 1/4" spacers. I have those as well if you need them. All the truck baser steering boxes from '68-'87 are interchangeable. You do not have to have a '71/'72 box.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

You will want a steering box from a '69-'87 K series truck. I do believe that on a '68 K series, the adapter plate is needed. Is the frame flat where the steering box is located? If so, you will need an adapter plate.

OK, I'm too impatient to look through all 18 pages for the answer to the question I have...
60-62 frame, do you make a P/S adaptor for the 60-62 frame horn?

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

No not yet. I've been trying to get that done for 2 years now, just not enough time. I have sold a few of these adapter plates to guys that have installed them on their '60-'62's.

I'm looking to add power steering to my 67 1/2t 2wd. Can you give me some info on the spacers? Also, can you explain the need for the adapter tube and flange? I'm gathering parts to put an engine and power steering in my truck in c couple months. Since my truck is all apart, I can't look at it to figure out how the tube and flange work. Also, will I need one of your rag joints as well?

Thanks!

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

The four 1/4" spacers are $12.00 shipped, as they come from the laser, or $30.00 shipped if I clean them up. Do you need the hardware also? If so that is $8.00. On the '67's you should not need the tube and flange as your steering column shaft should already be the correct length. The tube and flange provides a way to shorten the steering column shaft without the need to weld.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

OK Capt. I have a 65 C10 frame with a 74 crossmember, complete with suspension/steering. If this sounds like a go, I would like to purchase your power steering adapter plate (Paypal). Sounds like a lot of happy customers! I am running a 250 six. Any ideas on which hose I should use?
Thanks for your help,
Brian.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I would use a hose for a '68-'72 truck with the 250 I6. This is assuming you are using a '79 or earlier pump.

I'll send you a PM with payment info.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Hi Captain,

I recently join this forum because i recently bought a 67 GMC C15 Stepside.
One of the upgrades that it needs is the Power Steering. I have read this threat, the whole 18 pages, and sounds like your pretty good with this C10/15's.

Now, i know i wont need the adapter to convert to PS, only the spacer. I was hoping You can help me in something i can still figure out to make the conversion. Will i have to move the Alternator to the other side? or is their a bracket i can use to have both the PS and Alternator on the same side.

I already got most parts to converted, from a 73 C10. Please any help is highly appreciated.

Thank!

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

What to use and where to mount it depends on which engine you have. From the sounds of it, I would guess you have a small block with the short water pump. You do not have to move the alternator. All '63-'72 trucks and cars from '60-'68 has short water pumps with a PS pump bracket that mounts it below the alternator. There are also aftermarket PS pump brackets available.

Thanks for the reply. It is sbc, I believe it is a 327, but the guy who I bought from said it was a 350. Thank you.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If it has the short water pump and the alternator on the drivers side, the above info will help you with a PS pump and brackets. Don't forget you will also need the pulleys, unless your engine already has the PS pulley on the crank.
