My very plain jane truck

Man, I most have the most bare bones truck possible for 1965. It's a GMC but in Canada GMC's were just Chevy's with GMC Styling. Straight six, 3 on the tree, shortbox, stepside, manual brakes, thrift heater set up, no radio, no passenger side door lock, no inside door handles, no windshield washer, no front sway bar (unless somebody removed it). This is hard to get used to, my last truck was a loaded '72 Cheyenne.

Mine's just got a little more. 1966 Chevy C10, longbed stepside, straight six, 3 on the tree, no sway bar, manual everything, no door locks, not even any carpet, or anything for that matter.

Mine must've been a cadillac! Auto tranny, big back glass, deluxe heater, locks, chrome grill, stainless windshield trim.

Mine doesn't have door pulls, either. I thought you meant handles.

Sounds like my '66. Only differences are Chevy, LWB, and 4spd. I like the bare-bones models better

They're lighter and faster. Both of mine are bare. On the 81, the only option it had was ac. It didn't even have a radio.

I do like the Thrift Air Heater set up, it looks a lot cleaner on the firewall.

Is that the little box on the firewall?

Hmmm... I don't know which is which.

My '66 has a heater box that hangs off the firewall under the hood. I had a '60 and a '62 that had a completely flat firewall - the heater was completely inside the cab. (I think it only heated and recirculated the same air inside the cab.)

My 65 I have now was Originally a local texas gas company truck. They bought just a cab and chassis.
no frills on it. It didn't even have all the holes or brackets to mount a conventional bed on it.You know all the ones they show in the manuals and catalogs. they had holes for a mount in front right behind the cab and then at the back like normal.
One sunvisor and it was not upolstered . I guess nobody rode as passenger in these. They gas co did have alot of riveted on plates on the dash. more holes to fill

No, there is no box on the firewall at all, just the hoses going into a flat Firewall. The heater core is inside the cab.

Oh. Ok. nvm then. u2slow, that's what I'm talking about. The big box. I'm trying to figure out what it is. I wanna take it off and clean up the firewall.
