1962 LS swap engine position

Swapping a 5.3 and 4l60e into a 1962 c10. Using dirty dingo adapter plates (3 position) with chevy clamshell mounts on a 1978 disc brake K-member.(finally figured out the mounts)

Using 2010 6.2 Camaro exhaust manifolds as frame on the 62's are quite narrow. Thought about positioning engine to line up the transmission support and calling it done...
Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: 1962 LS swap engine position

Set her in, where it all fits....build from there? Don't view this a s a smart azz answer, you need to "fit" all the parts, on this swap (center engine/trans), bubble the 2 pcs , my thoughts are 3 - no more that 4 degrees down, on the eng /trans @ ride height, with all the weight on the truck. Where she fits for you, may be different, than my swap? best of fun, longhorn

Far back & low as you can. Make sure you have space for electric / mechanical fans (whichever you are using)

Re: 1962 LS swap engine position

Well got the engine in the frame. It's a tight fit on a 62 frame...used 2010 Camaro Manifolds..transmission mount is in stock location. I have about 1/4" clearance between frame rails and manifolds.

Re: 1962 LS swap engine position

I really don't know. Most swaps I have seen are done with the Camaro manifolds. The feedback that I have got from various sources say that is the easiest way to go. The frame is very tight where the manifolds dump...hopefully my cab will go back on smoothly with the engine in this position. The frame on this truck is mint as it was from California..I really didn't realize the earlier ones were that much different from the 64-66.

Re: 1962 LS swap engine position

Truck came with a '78 disc brake front end. Steering box was already attached. Doesn't look like an adapter was used. I can send a pic if you want.
