Re: what happened to Brothers

I got an email offer from Brothers on July 1. I pulled that up. Yes, it's changed. Has a Holley logo now. I was able to pull up parts for a GMC Jimmy '71.
I don't know if prices went up, or any parts are no longer available, but some one [or some thing] is out there to take your money.

I remember the old Brothers shop in Corona, Cal. I had just broken the back hatch on my Jimmy. The next day, I got a Brothers catalog with their new Blazer hatch. I figured it was a sign from above. I drove out there from Tucson, AZ. I had also been invited to a cast+crew showing of a picture I'd worked on to be shown in Westwood, so that made it a roadtrip. I called them from the freeway [cellphones were new] asking directions around Orange County. They stayed open an extra half hour till I found the place. They were real friendly. I bought the ersatz hatch. We shot the bull about New Breed Trucks ['67-'72]. Told them the story of my '68 C/10 Stepside. Got along great. They even invited me to stay over in Corona and party with them. They'd find me a spot to crash for free. But I had a reservation for a hotel in LA -- closer to the next day's showing -- so regretably, I declined.
Sorry to hear those guys aren't there anymore.

Re: what happened to Brothers

I was there on Friday 7.1.22 to pick up about half of an order. It was the last day showroom was open. They are moving warehouse to Greensboro. Guy at counter said the sales group will remain in So Cal.

I have no idea, because I was never a fan of Brothers in the first place.

I’m with you. Made several orders over the years and every time several items were back ordered and after a couple of weeks I canceled the order

Re: what happened to Brothers

I think Brothers was experiencing growing pains as the demand exploded, their parts development increased, and the public expectation rose. They are a business that started without the internet and adapted without hesitation, continuing to expand. I saw a change in the way warehouse based businesses do things at some point in the 80s or 90s. Probably due to use of computerized management. I'd go to a business for a product from the manufacturer they were the distributor for and I'd get "We don't stock that, special order, no returns". They started tweaking their inventory to be what sold the most. It created a vicious cycle. If they don't stock blue then nobody sees blue to want blue so they order the colors they see, so those colors sell the most. The special order color becomes more expensive due to full cartons-only and no return. That brought the sales for that color down even more.

Keeping a warehouse stocked with everything you offer is a very difficult task for a business. Lots of money on the shelf. That's why we see the big box business model surging further and further.

Re: what happened to Brothers

I have found over the years it is rarely better for the consumer when these buy outs take place….

"I have found over the years it is rarely better for the consumer when these buy outs take place…."

I have to agree with 57NAPCO. According to the only article I could find the business sold Jan 1st 2022. Just now doing the move. Holley used to be a private equity company and didn't release any data on the company.

Looks like they recently went public "Following Holley’s public listing last July"

In this article dated June 27, 2022.
HLLY
BOWLING GREEN, Ky., June 27, 2022--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Holley Inc. (NYSE: HLLY), the largest and fastest growing platform serving performance automotive enthusiasts, was added as a member of the US small-cap Russell 2000® Index, effective after the US market opens on June 27, as part of the 2022 Russell indexes reconstitution. Membership in the Russell 2000® Index, which remains in place for one year, is based on membership in the broad-market Russell 3000® Index. The stock also was automatically added to the appropriate growth and value indexes.

A visit to the brotherstrucks.com is now redirected to;
https://www.holley.com/brands/brothers_trucks/
The site doesn't even mention the buy out. Confusing to customers IMHO.

Holley is home to the top automotive performance brands including Flowmaster exhaust, MSD Ignition, Holley EFI, Hurst Shifters and now they can add a new brand under their portfolio. BrothersTrucks.com, America’s #1 Source for 1947-87 Chevrolet & GMC Truck Parts has been purchased by Holly Performance and will now be run under their umbrella of brands.

Re: what happened to Brothers

In a way it's too bad. I see more and more places being bought up by big companies and consolidating. Brother's Trucks showroom and warehouse was only a few miles from my home. They normally had what I needed in stock and I always just went to the showroom to purchase. I'll miss that. I like supporting local businesses when ever possible and it's getting harder to do that.

I was please to hear after that,
They will keep the current Employee's.

I have bought parts at swap meets from them for years and years.

The same guys have worked there Forever.

The last road trip I took up there they was working on the 67/72 something ambulance.
I heard they had sold it.

Very nice guys to work with.

What happened to our world? No, it's what is happening to our world we 'used to' know. Nothing normal about the past 2 year's. Having a platform to produce facts has become as difficult to find as these parts.

Re: what happened to Brothers

I’m seeing this with some of my clients. One is an Orthodontist and the other is a landscape company. The dental practice has already sold to a large firm, the other is contemplating. Huge buyout offers are turning them into fast deals. I’m not a fan of these large medical groups and it seems the dental profession will be going that direction as well.

Re: what happened to Brothers

From someone who just retired from a large corporation that has bought, sold, and shut down many companies, it is not a good environment for the employees, nor the consumers. And, most of the so called conspiracy theories are much more than just theory, but powerful media squelches those and those who dare to speak the truth. I have purchased many items from Brothers, and will miss their competetion to the bigger outlets.

Facts are stomped out w/the media scripts. Ridicule & the general population folds & caves into the peer pressure. It is scripted by folk that study human behavior & how to manipulate the targeted groups for maximum profit & control of emotions.
