71 Rear lowering blocks - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 71 C-10 with coil springs. I would like to do a 2" drop with lowering blocks. What are your recommendations? Thank you.

With that said. I used the CPP blocks. They came with the blocks new U-Bolts. Since I also used 4 inch drop springs for a total of 6 inch drop, I needed to adjust the pinion angle with a 3° shim.

The installation is pretty straight forward, basically remove(or cut) the old u-bolts off, put the spacer in and put the new u-bolts on. The new u-bolts came with nylon locking nuts, so I didn't get too crazy with the torque.

I want to add, after using CPP stuff, I wouldn't buy any of it again.

One thing to remember, with 2" blocks your U-bolt ends will drag with a flat or super low tire on 15" wheels. From what I have seen, if you have 17" or bigger your OK.

That can happen as some of the U bolts that come with the block have really long threaded areas. You can cut them off and still have thread sticking out, or just get some shorter u bolts. I have 2" blocks on my truck with 15s and I would pretty much have to be on bare rim before it thinks of dragging.
