Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

I have been working on the truck but progress is slow coz I had to complete my new vertical smoker for a big Bar-B-Q coming up. So here are a few shots of what I built and coming after this are some up date photos of Donnie's rear Jag clip in his '57 Chevy long bed(now a short bed)

Donnie's '57 long bed(now a short bed) is still pretty far from being done but the rear and front Jag clips are in and he dropped the bed on to see how it looks.

BC, I like what you're doing a lot. Please, don't take this question as criticism because it's only intended as a question. If you wanted different, why use a tube style bump for the third member? How about JUST a bump using a round bottomed large size stainless salad bowl? It would give you more space in general back there, I've not seen anyone else do it. Your 55-59 fender/tubs are genius. I like the hell out of them!

I'm sure I missed it but LOVE the hell out of that Papay Orange interior, what paint; if any, will you use outside? Same orange or something else?

Thanks, for the compliment and no worries no hard feelings here. I did try out a large stainless steel mixing bowl but I just wasn't feeling it. If you notice in the photo, that the cylinder to the right of the fuel cell is a stainless steel 5qt. Pasta Pot that I cut up and modified to hide the Fram reusable fuel filter canister. So I thought I would stay with the same theme, sort of - kind of and used two stainless steel cooking pots as the end caps of the hump.

OHH no worries bro they were cheap sandals I got for 4 bucks at the local Rite-Aid drug store, they made for some good insulation for the side handles of the smoker.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

life happens and you don't get to spend as much time with your project as much as you want. So far this is what I have managed to get done, plus a lot of small detail stuff I didn't bother to take photos of.

So far this is what I have managed to get done, plus a lot of small detail stuff I didn't bother to take photos of. I will post more detailed pics later. A portion of the bed opens to get access to the battery and additional fuse block and the battery tender. This is no longer the template but the actual aluminum bed no wood this time around. Still a lot more to do it is still a little rough around the edges, trying to get this bed to look exactly the way I want has taken more time then I expected.

The front bed panel is going back on but after the tail lights and other wiring is done then I will paint the bed sides and fenders and tubs in pieces and and rear cab area and start the process of getting it back together. Still have other work to do the front of the truck very soon.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

More pics coming real soon hopefully. Will also post some pics of another new smoker I made to replace a broke down store bought one. 2015 BROTHERS TRUCK SHOW will be posted a little later. You gotta go to these shows to lite a fire under your butt to get your creative juices flowing again and head back out to your garage and fulfill that promise you made to yourself about gettin' that truck done.

Yeah yeah I know life happens..... man makes plans and God laughs. Any way do the best you can. happy truckin'
