OOOHHHH Man RockinKees at one point I was thinking maybe I made a mistake doing one piece glass. I heard those stories about people with the manual window set up not able to roll their windows all the way down.Or windows coming off the track. But fortunately I don't have that problem and it's working out ok. Now i do not drive my truck in wet weather I have no windshield wipers. So the rubber you see in the photo acts as a splash guard/seal to keep water going down into the door. It does not go the full length of a piece window only the short window with a vent. But it was a pain in the butt trying to install the window with that flap section sticking out because it is new it's stiff and i was fighting to hold on to the window with out itfalling down into the door, so i just trimmed that flap off and installed the remainder of the rubber between the guide and the window.

Man those trucks at the SEMA SHOW were incredible, I'm gonna post a few more pics from the show.

Thanks lower50's. You know it's crazy and i gotta get my priorities in order. But the first thing that popped into my head was ohhh man glad it didn't land on my truck WHAT about me or a family member or friend it fell on. I said Lord forgive me for thinking so shallow. It's just a hunk of metal. I can't take it with me when I kick the bucket.

What did you do to tie down the bottom end of the rear channel when you got it a working? And did you end up doing anything with the top end of the front channel to tie it down? Thanks for and suggestions
Yeah if Blackdiesel had not posted any videos it would have ben a lot harder to figure it out and get to the point where I am. I watched those videos over and over.

To tie down the bottom end of the rear channel I welded one side of the rear lower section of the metal channel at the bottom and the end of the felt channel is held in place by the window and fit's snugly into the metal channel, depending on what type of felt channel you buy. Some people use the widow sealer or black RTV GASKET MAKER on the back side at the lower end of the felt channel where it fits into the metal channel.

The door frame trim holds in the felt up at the top. Again some people slather the inside of the door frame with window sealer to insure the felt stays in place and a good seal from rain I guess. But the screws and clips are all I used. If you don't have the clips check out this link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/55-56-57-58-...-/311473491492

Yep Bear claws are better way to go. But i haven't had any issues with my new parts so I am just going to stick with the old set up. I saw a '57 Chevy truck at the SEMA show with the manual one piece glass set up bear claws and couldn't figure out how he had the room to position the metal channel for the felt and window. I am sure there is some one on here that shows how it's done I just haven't searched for it yet.

Thanks for comin' by to take a peek. When you get the window figured out with the bear claws keep me posted I have a couple friends doing the same as you, but have not yet gotten to the point yet in their builds.
Will do. have a happy thanks giving my friend

Wow! Thanks for the window link. I've been trying to find someone to cut the glass by me with no luck. I printed out Blackdiesel's pattern but I live in the boonies and there is nobody here to cut it.
I take it the glass fit OK? In Blackdiesel's thread they made the glass bigger than the ones that Brothers sells I think.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

BC, Great pics as always. I sure appreciate them.

I contemplated the whole bearclaw latch thing. Had some cheapies and I am sure I could get them to work to work with stock inside and outside handles, but it would take 500 hours and all kinds of levers and bell cranks (not worth the time). Then was going to go with new stock. I went down to a friends shop (Bones Fab in Camarillo Ca) and he had a beautiful truck there with new stock latches. I took pics of the door jams and interior. Went to close the door, and it would not close. I slammed it and still no close. I walked away leaving the door not closed all the way because I was afraid I was going to break something if I slammed it any harder. That swayed me over to the Altman latches. I was not happy about the price (crazy $$ for a latch), but they sure work well. Just barely push the door and it closes all the way.

Thanks for coming by. I still have a lot more to do. You have come pretty far yourself, don't be surprise if you finish before me, lol. I have to have an operation on my right hand soon due to carpal tunnel so depending on the healing process I won't be able to touch the truck for a while after Dec.

Hey you're welcome Az. Hank. I am pretty pleased with my door glass from AUTO CITY CLASSIC. I understand why Blackdiesel's pattern is a 'Lil bit larger than the window from Brothers. Even with my window if there was no window channel felt in the door there is a very small but slightly noticeable opening at the upper front portion of the window at the bend or curve it you don't fine tune and make adjustments.

It's hard to find people willing to cut you the glass. I found a guy here in L.A. He said that's all he would do, is cut the glass but go some where else to get somebody to install it. He told me trying to install the one piece glass and make them work correctly is too frustrating and did not want to be bothered, he would only install the originals glass with the vent window.

However you got Blackdiesel's instructional video on here & You Tube so you are good to go. Get the glass from AUTO CITY CLASSIC and some good felt channel and you won't be disappointed.

The Black COE was the only truck where one of the guys from the shop that built it, said the truck is primarily for shows and will see very little Highway/ street duty. The '66 on the back of it with the diesel Duramax twin turbos is street legal and has seen some street and when fully completed will see a lot of street and open highway. It's a 8 second ride and with additional work to the roll cage plan on getting into the high to mid 7s.

The red '67 C-10 is for sure a driver coz I passed it on the street after the show in the thick of traffic off the Las Vegas strip.

All the other trucks were in the after show "IGNITED" Parade. I have pictures and video on the links below but have not finished posting all of them yet.

I won't lie to you, I have done almost everything to my truck except the Mustang II clip. But when I saw all the work involved with the bear claws I said the only bear claws I will be dealing with are the ones I eat from the donut shop. It's not a problem for you coz you got some mad skills.

I hate to say it coz he's gonna tease me about it but Kabwe aka Bam's 55/58 Chevy Truck Project did the bear claws and made it look easy, ok so some folks are a little more talented then others. The windows already kicked my butt I don't want to do nothing else to those doors but paint them, hahaha and eat a Bear Claw from Randy's Donuts.

The altman kit is not hard at all. They have two kits. One uses the original door panel. Just a little cutting on your door panel and that's it. The other one is for those who have a custom panel. That kit is a straight bolt in. Both are simple. Bam on the other hand reversed the pin and claw - a bit more work. If you keep it stock, it's nothing.

Yeah RockinKees, I'm still wrenching on it just nothing exciting to take a picture of. I finished the door glass installation on both doors. About to remove the bed from the truck do some final work to the rear frame and rear suspension, then blocksand the bedsides tail gate and rear fenders then paint them. But first going in for surgery for carpel tunnel on my right hand real soon. So my wife made it clear the garage is off limits pretty soon.

I have also been stealing a little time away from the truck to work on the '67 EL Camino. It's a sickness I don't even think I should be trying to do this but I can't help it, I am building a Frankenstein monster 496 blown BB, recessed firewall, rollcage, frame-off project. Who knows if I'll be able to finish it. I aint getting any younger but I can't help it, I love working with my hands. It's hard to be still. Man makes plans & God Laughs.
