My 1968 C-20 vermillion metallic...1 in a VERmillion

Just picked this up. Not a cream puff, but a solid original old truck. 1968 C-20 327v8/turbo400

Original front fender is off truck. Has some damage. I did find 2 more 68 fenders locally that are nicer. Appears 1 of the replacement fenders is Vermillion metallic. What are the odds?

Here is a pic of the truck loaded up on the trailer from last Thursday the day I bought it. The owner has recently passed. His sister gave me a cool old pic of the truck. The pic is dated Nov 1999.

Cleaned the interior up a little. Removed the U haul blanket seat cover and the shag carpeting over the stock floor mat. Also removed the steering wheel wraps.

Re: My 1968 C-20 vermillion metallic...1 in a VERmillion

Cool! I have NEVER seen a Fawn original seat cover on any 67 or 68 in ANY condition! That seat cover looks like the top of the line cover, like a cover that would come with a custom or custom sport truck option? Anyone?
Do you think the engine is still original?

I wonder why the hood is missing in the old picture?

Thanks everyone. I have been looking for a 67(big back window) - 68 longbed truck. I told a buddy I want a Vermillion metallic. We laughed. Then I found this truck. So Stoked.

Re: My 1968 C-20 vermillion metallic...1 in a VERmillion

The first thing I clean on an old truck are the drain holes at the front corners of the bed.
Second is to remove the inner door panels and vacuum the inside if the door, then clear the weep holes at the bottom of the doors. This is critical to longevity of these trucks.
Third is to remove the cowl panel and vacuum it and down the A pillar as far as possible, again to insure the drain is clear.

If this was done to these truck once a year they would all be rust free.......not really, but they would be in a hell of a lot better shape.

GREAT body/interior combo, congrats! I almost bought a very similar one to this and have been kicking myself ever since. It's neat to get pics from po's. I bout a 72 Custom Camper from an original owner and the family had me into the house, gave me a stack of pics that I know they did not have duplicates of - it was their baby. Thanks for sharing and enjoy.

Man, that seat bottom foam looks good enough to install a new cover over, as is, at least for now. LMC sells a black cover (back and bottom) for $150.00. Not sure there’s a better deal Han that, for a cover set.

Carry on!
Can’t wait to see more pictures!

The interior really does look well preserved. The OE floor mat fitment can’t be beat. Looks like it cleaned up really well.

Washed it off under the hood. Pulled the plug and the valve covers. Oiled cylinders and valve terrain. Hook up a battery and cranked it over.
