1963 SS too much yellow

Bought this 63 step side last year. Love the truck but it was all yellow, everything bumper included! I like the 67 corvette color but there was too much. So I added a chrome bumper, rear view mirrors, B pillar trim to break up the yellow.
So I am thinking about painting the roof white? Is there anyone that has photoshop that could take a picture and change the roof to white so I could get an idea of how it would look? I tried with "paint" with no luck.
Thanks in advance

Re: 1963 SS yellow

I'd do the white roof for sure. Might swap to a chrome grill as well. Mine is green instead of yellow, but you get the idea.

Re: 1963 SS yellow

You guys are much more knowledgeable about this stuff than I. My '63 has headlights like the photo from the Phoenix showroom. The 1st two photo's and the 4th appear to be 1964. Did they make two different grills for 1963? Mine is of course a fleet side so that could make a difference. And it is a beautiful truck no matter the headlight configuration. I am just curious.

Just the roof or the hole top of the cab like the trucks in the other photos? Changing the grill to white or chrome might help also.

Only one grille for c10-c30 63 Chevy. The 63 C40s and up continued to use the 62 big truck grille. The three bolt holes per side for the 64-66 grilles line up perfectly with the 63 grille, so it's very common to swap grilles

I think what he is saying is that the grill on your truck is from a different year. The one you have is the only one that is reproduced. People often put them on 60-63's if the originals are in bad shape.

Re: 1963 SS yellow

Just my opinion, but I don't think the white only on the top panel does much to break up the yellow. I'd either go with white to the belt line, or ditch the yellow on the grill. Either white or chrome on the grill—with or without white on the roof—would help a lot, IMO. I never hear anyone say that mine has too much green.

Re: 1963 SS yellow

Most stuff on a '63 cab is one year only has been my experience. I couldn't believe t but found an extra one of CL for $35 bucks about 10 years ago. It took me about 5 years to piece together a set of hubcaps. I almost bought a '63 dump truck 7-8 years ago but it needed too much stuff. Yours is a beauty. I have a white cab top on mine if you look in my signature photo. I have forgotten how to post photo's on here. I've had mine about 30 years now. Enjoy, my son is getting mine when I exit this planet.
