Opinions needed for my 4x4's. Im bored with them

Dilemma: lack of money and interest

Rig number one:

a 71 shortbox. the body is in pretty good shape. Needs new paint. interior is nice. I think the wipers dont work. no radio, dont remember if heater works. Needs new fuel tank maybe a fuel cell. There is no filler neck, just a rubber hose above the rear bumper. Not even a cap for the hose, yeah ghetto. So a bunch of small stuff turns into a big project. It has a 14 bolt rear and 44 front. It has brand new 37x14 iroks on it on welds. No motor no tranny.

Rig number two:

Jeep cj-7. wipers barely work, no heater no radio only gauge that works is tach and water temp. two seater and uncomfortable. Looks mean as can be though. It has a narrowd dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear, both locked. hydraulic steering. 39.5x18 boggers on beadlocks. amc 360 and t-18 4 speed.

Parts in garage: 600 hp solid roller 496. Custom built t-400/np205 for said motor. Origianlly destined for the 71. but now im bored with it

stockish 350 with t-350/205. originally destined for jeep. again, im bored with it.

So i could
1. finish the 71 the way i planned
2. install the 350/350/205 and sell the truck
3. install 496 in jeep (bad idea, but sounds fun)
4. Sell both rigs and buy a already built tube buggy
5. let the crap sit in driveway and drink beer around the 496 and talk about what it should go in

You got to do what you feel. You will miss the truck when it's gone. It's a classic and they are getting harder to pick up. If you are wanting a built buggy though, now is the time to get into them for decent money. A lot of baby boomers were all about the crawling before the economy tanked, they are trying to recoup some money and selling off projects and toys daily. I say install the 350 combo in the truck and send it down the line if it's not what you want. You only live once, why not enjoy things. Trevor

#5,or at least that`s what I do best.

What do you want? You`re out there in Grand Junction and want a trail rig for all the fun you have access to,right?I`ve never had the opportunity to become jaded with anything like what you have nor with such great surroundings to enjoy them with. So,a rock buggy sounds cool, but not for me.I wanted to build my shortbed as a seriously trail ready dual-purpose ride.It would mostly be on the road and looking capable of not needing one. It`s nice just knowing "you got what it takes when you need it".But,no beauty queen either. It would live up to it`s image and hit the rough stuff as well. But,I`d avoid making love to the rocks with my bedside, door,or top.A dent here or there shows it`s use and is welcome.I`d consider the Jeep the dedicated trail rig and go for it if that`s where your desires lay.If you can`t have both I`d sell the truck,if wheelin`is your priority. The Jeep is the ultimate rig at this point with what you`ve already done up under it.You could keep being patient and have both as money allows.Either way I`d get the truck running so you can make a move. That won`t cost much, either.I`d sure like a big big block shortbed.I`d sell the Jeep if it was me.But,I don`t live in Western Colorado, either.

I'd put the stuff in the jeep, sell it and put the rest of the stuff in the truck as planned and have extra cash for the little things or sell all of it and get what you want.

Definately drink some beer around em and have some serious thought first though.

I'd put the motor in the 71 and buff it out, use the jeep for a trail thrasher. A good bodied 71 is hard to find, show it off

Putting the 496 in the truck is gona end up costing you. You could stick the 350 in it and get it running cheap and it would probaby sell for more that way too. Keep the 496 for another project. Sell jeep as is.
