Hey guys,

I tried to some research for myself to figure this out but I haven't really found and info on my situation.

I need a bigger lift....

I have 6inch superlift, with a 3 inch body lift. I got 38's on it, and it looks tough, but i wanna be big man. So i'm lookin to put 42's or 44's on there. Nothing more then an 8 inch lift that i can find. Plus only a 2 inch lift i'd have to do some fender hurtin to clear those 42's. Also im tryin to do some research on posts about doin a 2gen on a 1 gen lift. Heard its not really recommended, and most of the posts are left a little empty, not enough info. If anyone can provide some info on what to do, i wanna get my blazer big.

I though Skyjacker made a bigger lift for our K5's. If you find one I'd be interested in your 6" front springs, shocks ect.

my old 65 had a 12 inch lift and a 3 inch body lift but the suspension i had to custom order from a 4x4 shop

Your going bigger? Wow. I think you can still buy 8" lifts for the first gens. You can also get your springs re-arched. Are you going 3/4 ton or 1 ton? If not, you got a good chance of breaking some axles with 42's or 44's. I think you've been pretty lucky so far with the 38's.

You may also want to look into cross-over steering after you have that big lift. It will help with the bump steer.

If your selling your 6" rear springs, I might be interested in those.

Yah Bouncy, Im going to put on the 3/4 ton axle's with 16.5 hopefully some 42's or 44's. Any ideas on a shop around here that could make up some 12 inch springs? 4 wheel parts is no help and your right, i can't find anything taller then an 8 inch. I dont think adding two inches of lift is worth the money. Any idea's bro?

I don't know what to say for the front springs, maybe get them them rearched. For the rear you can either go with a shackle flip from ORD or blocks.

We should go wheelin when I get my rig done. I'm going with 10" of lift and around 38's. Haven't been able to find anyone who can get me tires at cost yet

I am in Woodinville, right near the Highschool. Let me know if you need a hand.

national spring in calif. makes the front but they are around 750 for the pair last I checked I have 8" springs front and rear-- 2" traction lift in the front and 3" blocks in the rear with a 3" body lift
if you decide to use the 12" springs the 73 and up rears will work and are much cheaper

What are Alcan Springs? and how much lift would a shackle flip give me? I'm not too big on wrenchin, but i just got a house with a garage finally so its me and my craftsmen tools from here on...time to learn. as for your question on 73 and up lifts the only diff is the front springs, they are longer and you would have to move your shackles , my oppinion it wouldn,t be worth cuting up your frame

What set up did the guy on CK5.com have. His board name is 1FINHIK5 or something. He was running 44's and he wheeled it hard. Pretty sure he had 12" of lift. (It was for sale on e-bay a while back. I think he wanted around $12K with out the rear steering.)

Where did you get a house? Are you still in Bothell? My wife might object to the 19 year old drunk women, althought that is very enticing!

Give National or another spring manufacturer a call. They can build you just about anything you want. I have personally seen 20" lift packs on an early 80's Chev. You can weigh your whole truck then the front and back on axle scales. Then the springs are made to your usage and payload capacity. A friend had a set made a while back for his superduty, 9" lift with no payload capacity. Rides nice and bags were added over the rear springs for when he throws somthing in the back. Keep in mind when going with lifts over 10" steering becomes more costly to correct and drivelines become an issue, especially with short wheelbase vehicles. Not that it can not be done just costs money to make it right and safe. There are a couple of large lift Chevs runnin around here with no front driveline, guess they ran out of money to do it right. I have had some very good luck with both alcan and national spring. Very progressive and well built springs. On the Chev. steering won't be a huge issue, the biggest problem is getting the steering studs out of the knuckle. lol

There are legal lift limits in Washington though. Your probably already over the limits with your 38's. Keep in mind, the more you stand out, the more you'll get pulled over.

<4500 GVWR=24" front - 26" rear
4501-7500 GVWR=27" front - 29" rear
7501-10000=28" front - 30" rear

That's a pretty bogus law, I've seen a couple of rigs ridin around with 44's i do believe. Knowin the cops around here anything too big your gonna get popped. Thanks for that info, where do you find all that crazy stuff?!

For some reason the cops around go after the toys and jeeps more than the K5s and fullsize trucks. I have built both and they alwaws seem to pester the little guys....

don't think they pay too much attention, as long as you don't do anything to draw attention to yourself. But, the more your vehicle stands out, the more likely you are to get pulled over on a regular basis. I think in the 'burbs like Bothell, your probably fairly safe. If you haven't been hasseled with the 38's, what's 6" more of tire?

They probably go after the little trucks because the tire size is a little more obvious.
