80 model spindles for a 70
I ended up with a extra set of drop spindles for a 1980 to put these on a 1970 can I just change the ball joints to 1980's in the 70's upper and lower A Arms and then use 80 model tie rods.?

Re: 80 model spindles for a 70
Kinda.
The 73-87 tie rods are 11/16" and RH thread. The 70 outer tie rods are 5/8" and LH thread. So you have to use a 70 outer tie rod in the inner location. Then screw on a $50-$60 tie rod adapter. Then screw on the 73-87 outer tie rod. The easier solution is to use ALL of the steering from a 73-87 truck including the center link. The best solution is to use 63-70 conversion spindles. No need to change balljoints or any of the steering.

Re: 80 model spindles for a 70
The main problem I ran into is the Boss 338 rims will not fit my 68 that has a 80 front suspension. I was told when I bought these rims last all the issues were taken care of but I have the 1 1/4 HD hub the wheels don't fit.
I don't feel comfortable having them turned down so I'm going to get new spindles and 1 inch Hubs So I have the left over stuff that can go on my 70 when I start on it. I could sell the stuff but it's not eating thing on the shelf just making sure tI could put the 80 model tie rods in the 70 model arms. Thanks Keith

Re: 80 model spindles for a 70
Member Hot Trux put the Boss 338 wheels on his '68 with HD rotors.
Just took a little grinding of the rotor "nose" area. In my opinion AE Wheels did nothing to fix there wheel issue. Just remember, switching to the light duty 1" rotors, and spindles,... also require different calipers and one of the bearings is different.
