Brake shoe hold down hdwr

Does anyone know of a source for the brake shoe hold down hardware for a 54 - 3100 ? even if I have to switch to the coil type ? I'd like all new pins and either type of springs.
Thanks

That's a great hit ! Thanks !

https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail...16_Pieces.html

For some reason tho, 54-3100 Pickup is not listed ? ? ? ?
Doesn't seem like it would be different than the 54' models listed.
Pin length ? Coils instead of the original leaves ?

I'll send the a query.

Nice shot Dan, thanks again.

You are probably thinking of the "HELP" display with stuff like clips, exhaust stud and nut kits, window cranks, etc...

yup. door hinge pins / bushings, little odds n' ends.

NAPA still has rotary racks with all that sort of stuff, just no old timey stuff.

Lot of nice aftermarket stuff there, but nothing in the OE type brake spring dept. (that I could find, anyway)

Thanks though.

Re: Brake shoe hold down hdwr

Some of the old school parts houses that have the big batches of Dorman cabinets have brake hold down pieces but may be as picked over and empty as the last place I looked for something. A friend of mine put that parts house in about 40 years ago and had a great stock of small pieces as long as he had it. I think the outfit that bought him out dropped the vendor that serviced them.

Classic parts has the full set for one axle for 21.95 https://www.classicparts.com/1951-63...ctinfo/71-521/

Re: Brake shoe hold down hdwr

Rock auto has a set for cheaps that fit 60 Chev pickups but the springs are two lengths meaning that they are for self adjuster brakes. You would have to get two sets of the hold down springs for non self adusting to use the long springs. at 2.95 a set that is viable though.

Re: Brake shoe hold down hdwr

Hey THANKS Mr.
I saw that Classic offering, posted it earlier.

I did check rock A but didn't think to look at other years till later ... and never went back. Could've saved a bunch of effort, dang. Gotta remember that for the future. I did find many full spring kits (napa) for later years, but they only offered complete kits. Too pricey just to throw the majority of it away.

That is exactly what I'm after.I can modify them to fit if necessary.

I recon the original leaf style are loooooooong gone.

BTW, I've got excellent brakes now, really nice. Those hold down pins and leaf springs are getting verrrry tired tho, just like to replace em'.

Thanks again everybody,
CHEERS !

EDIT: I did see the leaf type on the ebbay but they were overpriced, for me anyway. Maybe for a perfect resto, not mine.

Re: Brake shoe hold down hdwr

I've snapped a couple of those original style units trying to spread them a bit so they would have enough tension on them. Not fun when you live out in the country and the only thing you have to drive at the time is the truck you are doing a brake job on.
