Re: Wiring Earley Jaeger Temp Gauge

This is strictly a guess but it looks to me like the hot wire goes to the "B" and the sender goes on "T". There are two plugs on "B" so I think the one feeds the gauge and the other feeds the light. This avoids having to run a separate wire for the light. Can you check any of the other gauges and see how they are wired?
It looks to me like the resistor strip between B & T is broken at the hole. Is the strip insulated from the gauge body?
I accept no responsibility for this opinion LOL

If your vehicle has a variable rheostat to dim the dash lights then the B terminal can't be the hot source for the gauge light because it would be a constant voltage and the light hot source would have to come from the rheostat.

Re: Wiring Earley Jaeger Temp Gauge

I agree on B and T, but the second blade on B is probably to feed another electric gauge, like maybe fuel. The gray/black strip is just to insulate the terminals from the case, so the break shouldn't cause any problems.

Now just to satisfy my curiosity, where did you get a sending unit for this gauge that will fit an American engine?

Re: Wiring Earley Jaeger Temp Gauge

Thanks for the reply VetteVet there are no other jaeger gauges in my truck. I am installing this gauge in my 53 Chevy truck 350 V8 12 Volt. The resistor strip is broke is that going to be a problem ? And i will not be running a variable dim.
Thanks.

Re: Wiring Earley Jaeger Temp Gauge

In all honesty, I would say don't hold your breath. I have done a few engine swaps into British cars and the temp gauge was always one of the nuisance items. When I really wanted the dash to stay stock looking, I would machine a custom bushing to fit the stock sender into the US engine. If I didn't care how it looked, I would just replace the dash gauge with a Stewart-Warner.
