Re: 454 swap questions

Are you using a bolt in yoke TH400 or slip yoke? As for cutting the half shaft, you'll just have to measure, measure, measure. I put a TREMEC TKO500 in a '92 xcab a few years back and had to change the yoke, cut the halfshaft and move the trans crossmember.

I do wonder if you're going using BBC to build a hotrod, why not start with something a little lighter than an xcab truck, and then have to remove all the wiring & fuel injection. What are you doing for a fuel pump/ignition, etc? Are you going to use a floor mounted shifter?

Like BossHogg69 said, you'll have to measure. The shop that's gonna cut and balance your shaft should be able to give you the correct measuring instructions. I read that it's best to go by what YOUR shop tells you since different shops like to measure from different points. Good luck with it bro.

That's exactly what I did - I called the shop first, told them what I was doing and they told me where/how to measure. They'll probably be able to fit a new yoke to your existing half shaft and shorten all in one shot.
