Ok I know Nathan has installed several Corvette rears in trucks. I was wondering if there is another alternative. The vette's just doesnt give the lift I want. A buddy told me to look for a supra rearend. Has anyone used theseor have any experience with them?

i'd 2nd the expedition and i think even the exploder has 'em as well.

How much lift are you looking for Brad? I am getting 10" out of the C4.

If you need more than that you'll need something with CVs and axles... not halfshafts.

nathan is 10" not binding up. I will be setting the rear ride hieght to match my dropmember. But I will need to get it on the trailer and stuff like that.

10 will not bind if you set it up right. Getting it on a trailer should not be a problem. I have been setting them up at a 5" ride height... 3 up from there is plenty to get it on a trailer.

what will I have to change or is it a fairly straight forward install. Meaning I dont have to narrow anything. What about driveshafts

The width is just right. The only thing you will need/want to change would be the link bars that locate the hub fore and aft, (make them longer) and then the rear radius rods that locate the toe of the hub (locate them to the bottom side of the steering arm).

I was just wondering if there are any other good alternatives. My fabricator is telling me I am only going to get 4-5" out of the Vette, even though Nathan says 10". I am kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, I really want to run an independent, but I need the lift.

ya I will! it may be a while. we are going to sit down and finalize the design this weekend. is there anyway to mount a regular bag? I want a low floor, not a cantilever setup like yours. If it is possible!

I have seen it where the four-link bars that locate the hub are modified into a trailing arm... and a bag levered off of it. It wasn't the cleanest looking thing... but if done right... who knows? Other than that it would need a canti-levered/rocker arm type set-up to get the lift. There are a number of different ways to mount these configurations... not just poking up out of the bed. I am serious... have your guy call me if he needs some pointers or help setting it up... I have done a few! (I am sure he is capable of figuring it out himself, but sometimes it can be easier if somebody fills you in on a couple of things). I know a ton of ways that it WON'T work!

and you could make rear links like the kp setup to give you your lift and stay under the floor...

Bolt pattern is GM car which is 5 on 4 3/4". The best way to make the front match is use the Corvette based dropmember...

cajundragger i believe sporttruck is working on a c-10 with an expedition rear.....i'm not sure but i know it is definitely either sporttruck or streettruck magazines.

My '67 has a 2003 Ford Expedition IRS. I was worried about the amount of travel i could get out of the Corvette rear with the u-joints and I wanted a rear what wouldn't blow up with a good motor in front of it like the Supra will. Porter seems to have solved the travel issue with the C-4 IRS but i still haven't seen a stock Supra rear installed in anything other than a mini truck so i went with the Expedition unit.

the good: its an 8.8-inch rear that will handle a good amount of horsepower, the CV's provide good articulation which equals good suspension travel in a bagged application. I've limited mine to 13-inches of travel without it binding up. It will cycle more than that but it starts to bind at 14-inches.

the bad: the rear has a 70-inch track width. I had to narrow mine 5-inches per side to fit the 22x10's with a 6.5-inch backspacing inside the stock bed sides. There's enough room for a wheel with 6-inches of backspacing. I had new axles made out of 600M material using the stock CV joints for about 600 bucks. According to the builder, the axles are good for over 1000hp, not that i'll ever put that much to it.

On the road the truck handles excellent and I can drive at any height without the rear suspension binding up.

I paid 800 bucks for the IRS, hub to hub including the control arms, 13-inch disc brakes, cables, struts etc from a scrap yard. I only ended up using the center section, CV's, brakes and hubs and threw away the stock contorl arms.
