1972 c10 fuel gauge problem
after reinstalling fuel tank and gauges my fuel gauge needle points down away from gauge. gauge still works its just pointing down away from gauge. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks paul

The gauge works by changes in resistance, so clean connections are absolutely paramount! The sending unit is a typical GM 0-90 ohm value unit. Empty is 0, full is 90. If you ground out the wire at the sending unit the gauge should read just below empty. If you disconnect the wire, it will go way past full. That will test the wiring and the gauge. If that checks out, then the sending unit or the ground for the unit is faulty.
