1971 C10 Brake Lines
On my 1971 C10 My brake lines are square where they bolt on to the caliper and have a gold tone color. I ordered two new ones to replaced them. I was assured they were not the originals and was sent round ones that attached to the Calipers that are silver. Which are correct?

It's been a while since I messed with a 71, but I'm pretty sure they were round.
Not 100% sure on color, but I think that just depends on who manufactures them. Some people make them silver, others make them gold. |

The gold colored ones are probably zinc coated.

I am also running into this problem. The end of the hose on my 71 is square with a 45 degree angle on one end. I ordered new brake hoses and told them I needed the stock hose ends and got the same square hose end. The calipers I am replacing will accept that end but the new calipers I got from Classic Industries are for the round style. What style caliper do I have to order to get one that will accept the square style?

Years ago a bunch of us on here were dealing with the same issue.
Here is a picture I took back then that illustrated the differences between the two calipers.  Since the old 71-72 calipers are getting scarce, many guys are being forced to run 73-87 calipers instead. A good work around is to plug the brake line hole (to keep shavings out of them) and grind the ridge around the hole flat. Then you can run the hoses with the big blocky end on them.

Had I done some research I would have ordered the newer style brake hoses. I had some stainless braided ones made with the block ends and ordered apparently the newer style calipers. Oreilly's picture shows the 71 style caliper so I will give that a try. If not I was already thinking of taking the grinder to the new calipers. Thanks bud

I just ran into this same issue. I pulled calipers and hoses off a 71. Square ends
I then looked up 72 rotors. These used the round ends. So im thinking. 71 trucks used square ends and 72 trucks used round ends Also when I used the 71 calipers they barely touched older steel wheels. I just had to shave about a 1/8" off the caliper if that much. The 72 wouldnt clear the older steel wheel at all without shaving more. ( im using 15" artillery wheels) Even autozone shows different calipers between 71 and 72
