With what they cost these days I'm surprised they were selling any.

Re: Camaro
When the Camaro goes away, just buy an ATS Cadillac. The Camaro is now built on that platform. GM's way of saving money. Sorta like the 68-74 Nova was back then.

Re: Camaro
I have owned many Camaros of different generations and there is no way I would ever buy a Camaro SUV or a sedan. That just seems sacrilegious. Same goes for the Mustang EV. I have owned more Mustangs than I can remember and wouldn't buy the SUV.

Re: Camaro
That's my thought too.^^^ I have had several Camaros of a few generations too and would never buy an electric SUV with that stolen name slapped on it.
Same as Ford did with the Mustang, disgusting. That new Demon 170 looks awesome. 8.90s at 150+ mph in factory form? That's crazy and hard to believe that just any idiot with enough credit can get into such a monster. You can't just roll into an NHRA track and run that fast without a proper license and that's under controlled conditions with safety crews on-site. I haven't heard anything about price though? can't be cheap

As much as I'd like to them get slapped down for being stupid it'll be the workers that pay the price and I don't want to see that. The big boys have their golden parachutes. It won't affect them.

Re: Camaro
Sad to see GM doing this. Purchased a new 2020 Blazer RS for my wife a bit into when the lockdowns started. Nothing was selling at the time and we got the best deal we have ever experienced, probably 30% off of list. She wanted a midsize sport utility and I wanted to buy american this time. Size was good for her and she liked the car. The BLAZER name had nothing to do with the purchase, it meant nothing to her and infact kind of turned me off. The car (not a truck) has been in for service more than any new vehicle we have ever owned in the first two years. With the direction GM is going I am guessing that it will be our last new GM vehicle purchase.

Sad indeed. GM used to make cars for everyone but now it seems to be a niche market. They are driving the loyal fans away. (in Fords) I've passed on 2 GM vehicles because of the the obscene dealer markup which seems to be the norm these days. They really need to get a lasso on these dealers too. But they don't. They just add fuel to the fire with bad ideas and no control.

Re: Camaro
The automaker bailouts didn't bother me. It was done to save jobs. People who disagree should be reminded all those who would have lost their jobs, a whole lot of people/jobs, would have been out after your job in a climate where most all other jobs were scarce due to what would have been another depression had their not been so many safeguards put into place after the great depression. What bothers me 100x more is that the banks who put us into the recession got bailed out and grew stronger through the housing disaster that wrecked many a common person's life. "Sorry sir, but your home was foreclosed upon. We can't lend money to buy another due to your poor credit record" (that had been A1 for decades).

At least when the auto industry got bailed out, it was a loan and they did pay it back. GM was over a year early IIRC?

Re: Camaro
Yep, it was a good plan that saved a big portion of US jobs. Not just those employed by GM and Chrysler, but all the supporting jobbers. That was about 15 years ago and they are still on their own feet, whether they are building what we like or not.

Re: Camaro
I found it interesting that in the farewell video from Chevy, there is a panther emblem present at the very end. This makes me wonder if this is the very end of the Camaro as we know it, 2 door coupe. Seems interesting to have such a huge nod to the beginning of the Camaro history. Maybe the new EV based cars will be panthers? Either way it sucks, to see them kill an icon…. again.

Re: Camaro
Camaros, Corvettes, heck even these trucks we fool with, all have their generational issues. I like 55-59 chevs better than 47-54s and 60-66s. Then I love anything from 67-98. After that, I really dont care. Same with Camaros. 67-69 were tops with me then 70-74. After that, not for me. Corvettes have never crossed my mind for a keeper, until the new mid engines. I probably couldnt get in or out of one, but they look cool. I saw a chart on yearly camaro vs corvette sales the other day. Camaro sales are dropping like a rock, while vettes are steady increasing. Money is tight, and lots of people like a styling change every once in a while. The late model drop tops look fair to me. They will be missed.

Re: Camaro
I like all GM trucks up to '72 the most. But I also like them up till 2000 GMT. Camaros came along in '67 which traditional was my cut-off year for cars. I don't hate the GM cats 68-72. It's just that by then it seems the cars were designed to be muscle cars, with the lesser performance versions being toned down versions for the general public. The Camaro coming about in '67 demonstrates that fact well. Prior to '67 I see the cars as made for the general public with souped-up versions snuck in for the performance crowd. Racing stripes, hood scoops, and the Pepsi Bottle body design was barely seen. The '63 Riviera gave the auto world it's first taste of Pepsi . Gotta love a Camaro, as a Chevy guy, for knocking the shoes off the Mustang. So 67-72s make my list over the other GM muscle, 68-72. Beyond '72 cars I car for are far and few between.
You can't hate GM for cancelling on the Camaro if people weren't buying them. I blame the buying public for that. GM took a shot at bringing them back after cancelling for the same reason once before. A car maker can't help what the public perception follows. Mustangs have carried a zombie following for a long time, even thought they really messed them up a few times along the way. Go figure. I'll take an early Falcon any day. Same thing in a different suit

Re: Camaro
In my little microcosm of a world I've never seen Chevy advertise anything but trucks. Ford too. That seems to be their battleground. I've seen quite a few Dodge car commercials.
I've never seen a Camaro or Mustang commercial and the Corvette. Forget about that. You can't even get one. I tried. What you can get is 2 crappy tacos at Del Taco for 2 bucks. They run those commercials 2 at a time about a million times a day.

Re: Camaro
100% agree. I can't stand them either. Bottom dwellers. And I don't mind Del Taco. But take it easy with the dumb commercials. Their new slogan is "Best Mex'. They can't be referring to Mexican food or they're on drugs because they aint even close. Not even in the ballpark. Del Taco is the fat chick of Mexican food. If it's 2 am and you're drunk it's not too bad.
