Correct cab clearance lights 1961 C60?

Was in the mood to start looking for correct cab clearance lights for my truck. What would be correct from factory or dealer installed for 1961? From what I gather the Yankee 77 lights are from 1966 and on. School me please. Thanks.

The Yankee 77's should be the original ones on a '61. I'm not real sure when they started, but my '62 GMC 6500 had them from the factory.
My best guess is that they started at least in 1960.

Yankee 77s as far as I know. These were used long before '66. Maybe not Yankee 77s, but the same tear drop style clearance lamps have been used since the '40s

I almost positive 77's were introduced in 1966, as the base of them are stamped. KD 517, Dietz 80, Cabco were very popular, The KD 518 are nearly identical to Yankee 77s. Go visit taillightking web sight.

Well, I never did dig very deep into the "history" of them, but I've always known GM to use the Yankee 77's in their applications, of that type anyway. From about '60 and into the '70's anyway.

I could be wrong, but they could have just updated they stampings through the years.

Re: Correct cab clearance lights 1961 C60?

Usually when lenses/bases are stamped, the put a production date on them, Take a 67-68 c series parklight for instance, when first introduced they stamped the year on them, '67. these were used until the 90's in stepvans, just as the steering wheel was also. If you look at the park lights they had the '67 date in the corner. I have many old lighting from the 40-70s that are dated either at the lense, "not glass type lense of course" or the base.

The ones that you are referring to are "Guides" and I agree that once Guide makes a Lens, it's dated and stays that way.

Re: Correct cab clearance lights 1961 C60?

Well, in the meantime I just went back and checked on the easiest ones I could get to. Even though most of my sets are gone that were on trucks I used to drive or sold through the years, I still have 2 sets on trucks here, plus 2 separate ones I recently picked up.

The 2 separate ones are Casted SAE-P-63.

I am now curious to what the others read, and now that you have brought it to my attention, I will be checking others in my travels including the others I have here.

I would post pictures, but as many know, I never learned how to, lol.

But I can E-mail you some, if you would like.

I checked on those numbers Bill, and it showing more of a trailer clearance light type, I'll look a little deeper and see if I can post a photo.

Re: Correct cab clearance lights 1961 C60?

Not real sure what numbers you are talking about, but what I have here is a #4070 Yankee 77 Cab Clearance Light with a Date of "63" and it appears that you have a #4070 Yankee 77 with a Date of "66".

I'll try to get a chance to check on my others later today.

Re: Correct cab clearance lights 1961 C60?

These are what is on my '60 C60. Fairly certain they're the originals.

The bases were rusted out so I acquired a NOS set. They have different stampings on them, but are identical in shape, size, and design.
