51' 3100 Hookin up Heater hoses

Does anyone know how to hook up the heater hoses for a 51' 3100 with a 350 engine? here is a pic of the temp control, I am assuming the "hot" water hose will connect to the top of this thermostat (assuming that is basically what this is). Then the bottom of the temp control will have a hose connected to the "top" of the heater core. Then the bottom of the heater core will run to the water pump.

So I guess I need to figure out, where my "hot" inlet port would be on my intake manifold. Correct?

So I am going from manifold hot, to top of temp control, bottom of temp control to top of heater core, bottom of heater core to water pump?

also where would this copper line connect to? The intake? I am guessing it is used to determine temperature.

any help would be appreciated.

Re: 51' 3100 Hookin up Heater hoses

I got it figured out, but don't remember off hand. I'll look over the original set up this weekend. I ended up using an aftermarket heater because mine leaked and so did the ranco valve on my sbc swap. but I have some original trucks that have the heater setup to.

I'll let you know

ttt. Some pictures of the orginial set up would be helpful. Would like to see how the hoses were ran and also were the control valve mounts on the dash.

Re: 51' 3100 Hookin up Heater hoses

daverod, yeah def answered my own question.
Top picture is when I had the OG heater and ranco valve ran, both leaked.

Second picture is with just two heater hoses going into aftermarket heater.
Can't really see the hook up but it is nice to only have two hoses in the engine bay.

Thanks in part to having an original truck as well, I had a reference on the ranco valve.

Re: 51' 3100 Hookin up Heater hoses

I'm hoping none of my stuff leaks. I was just trying to do it without the ugly hoses everywhere. I was thinking of running my transmission lines along the top of the innerfender the hoses could lay on top and kinda hide them. It would be a lot easier then bending them along the frame.
