We made it through OK. Didn't even lose power here in Wilmington. I went out in the middle of the storm and ran straps from the body cart to our fence and deck just to be sure it wouldn't roll, and while I was out there I realized that even with the thing practically shrink-wrapped in a fabric car cover with a heavyweight trap over it, water STILL got inside. It hasn't stopped raining long enough for me to get out there and see just how much water is in it. Frustrated, but at least it didn't get damaged. Our prayers are with those in Jersey and NYC that got it far worse than we did.

All is good here, with a creek behind my garage I loaded up the blazer to get everything off the ground and had the Chevelle warmed up and ready to go. I can't say the same for my little sister, she is in OC NJ and her 73 Camaro and 28" camper got swamped.

Slow goin over here, but a buddy and I mated the newly rebuilt TH350 trans to the motor and dropped it all in yesterday. Next is hooking up the t-case. Will post some pics soon.

Any of you local boys need a drivers side door for parts? I have a nearly rust-free one you can have for free. The inner panel has a crease in it up top, but it's pretty solid other than that. Need to get it off my deck ASAP, so let me know.

Thanks Richard. I just found the pic above in an old thread, so I think I'm OK. If the order of the parts in this photo are correct, then I have mine set up correctly. Problem is I can't get the new poly bushings to compress enough to get the holes in the upper piece to line up with the holes in the side of the frame rail. Therefore I can't get the thing fully bolted up. Anyone have any ideas?

Dusty, i believe that mount is incorrect, it has metal to metal contact. But that being said, i wouldnt use that bracket. There is a discussion on the 4x4 section on this topic, seems that you have a greater chance for major damage to the transmission. That bracket holds the trans secure, while other parts of the powertrain can flex, weak part is the back half of the trans.
I would strongly suggest you reconsider using that bracket. GM stopped using it!!! If you need further help, just ask, but it will be given with a disclaimor

So far so good. I handed it over to my body guy before he did the body work on the back end of the truck. So he was able to make it fit pretty seemlessly. It's not on the truck yet, so I am yet to see exactly how well it fits. I'll post pics when I do get it on there.

Ok, ill go back and look at the bracket, and see if my picture is the correct oreintation....imagine the flex of your motor under load, it wants to torque to the drivers side. Now the transfer case is locked to the frame with that bracket, but the weak spot is the tail shaft area of the trans(just cast aluminum) so, the area that is the weakest will fail
Option two, use the truck without the transfer case bracket, no harm done underload and flex. They also used rods to tie the bottom of the trans. to the motor mounts, but you have to have a 'K' case th 350 trans to bolt these up

So the alternative is to not use the bracket at all, and attach rods to the bottom of the trans and the motor mounts? I have a th350, but not sure how to tell if it's a 'K' case. How do I determine that?

Gotcha. I'm not going to wheel the truck, so I may be OK. It was never wheeled, which may be why it never caused any problems. Guess I should've taken a look at the trans before asking a dumb question, huh?
