Stereo install

Here are some pictures of my system. I searched forever for a decent hidden audio unit but, had read some pretty poor reviews of them. I decided to use a marine audio system. The controller is in the glove compartment and all of the other parts are underneath the seat.

-Head unit is a JBL
-Polk audio 6 1/2 two way up front
-Tang Audio 6 1/2 subs from Parts Express
-JL 600/6 amp

Some of the considerations were keeping it hidden, clean installation and size limitations of keeping it under the seat. I'm not real happy with how the front pods came out but, it was my first time doing it.

Re: Stereo install

I like the speaker mounts. Are they for the kick panels? What model of hidden radio did you come up with JBL???

I'm working through my own right now but the radio head is going behind the seat (80 chev) along with the speakers

Re: Stereo install

They are generic speaker pods to mount anywhere. Not very expensive but, it would be pretty easy to make some just as good if not better.

The head unit is a JBL marine audio unit.

Re: Stereo install

Is there a JBL part number so I can google it? I looked or it on JBLs website but the sight just locked up for me.

Re: Stereo install

I don't have the model number handy and I never found it listed on JBL's site. If you google JBL marine audio you should come up with it. If that doesn't work, send me a PM.

Re: Stereo install

great install. very few people realize how much solder helps in the long run.. vibration will never be a problem, for me it just removes a lot of doubt.. i may go for the glove compartment install as well. hope mine looks as professional as your's turned out.. great job

Re: Stereo install

It does look good renegade. How do those polks sound? I picked up a set for my blazer, but it's still a little ways from being installed...

Re: Stereo install

The Polk Audio speakers sound great. I was really surprised by the 6 1/2 subs. They were pretty inexspensive but, sound great.

The other thing with solder is having good shrink tubing. When I did my main wiring harness, I used the shrink tubing that has glue inside.
