John,

Nice work, I really dig this truck.

Hopefully you know the members down your way that are talking about doing a get together this year somewhere between San Hoe and Vacaville.

Thanks for the pics, makes the thread!

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

Thanks fella's for all the kind words !!! These words keep me going....because I am usually a #1 procrastinator !!

Anyway...here are two more pics...What I did, to change it up a little, was add a second coat of textured paint to the engine compartment. I wanted to somewhat hide the imperfections of the engine bay sheetmetal.

I masked everything off from the top edge down...but now realized I need to go all the way the fenders edge..I think that will look better...What do you guys think ??

John

Two pics......

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

Well, what I mean is not up by the cowl..(that will remain primer)...but over the top of the inner fender, and stop the tecture right where the fender attaches. Anyway, I think it came out ok. This kinda sets it off a little, instead of having everything black. What I really wanted was a textured paint that had RED spreckles in it..that would of been SICK...But I could't find any in rattle can...although they have that in that zolotone stuff (spelling?) which uses a spray gun...didn't want to mess with that right now.

I'm just dieing to get this engine back in....

I think I would go all the way to the fenders also. If you are keeping the radiator support covers, paint them with thee textured paint too. Is the engine going to be red?

WOW!!! That looks great! What brand/color paint did you use and where did you find it? I've used trunk paint (zolotone) under the hood back in the day - it was a real pain in the arse to keep clean. Good choice of color too - the engine will be nicely set off when you have the hood up. Keep up the good work John, I think that your providing motivation to all of us.

OSH...."aged iron" Rustoleum brand textured paint...The name of the color fitted perfect !!!

They had differnet color....one of them had a 'green' in it...kinda cool, but i wanted something with a red in it...they probably make it, but OSH didn't have it.

Anyway...this morning before my routine, I went ahead and did it all....

Pics.....

I'm going to pressure wash under the hood, and do that as well....

Now once I give a body a nice satin primer...it should set it off nice.

I probalby should clear the engine bay.....but ??

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

Well this is all I got done this evening...painted the rest of the engine bay, and the frame......

-
-
-
Also I got the water-pump ready for the engine...
-
-

-

The next thing that has to be done is make a new battery tray...this one is wasted...apparently, it was spread out to fit a larger battery...I'll just fab up a new one, with HD hold down.
-
-

-
-
I picked up a Rock-Crusher for my SS Nova a while back from CL, and it came with an extra flywheel and new clutch...one less thing to buy for the 'Chief"....
