Well....I am no closer on getting a title than I was months ago. There is a co. that can suppy you w/a title but they require you have insurance on the vehicle. I can not get insurance untill the truck is done & at this point after putting $12k in the vehicle I do not know weather to keep going or give up on the project. Any one ever had this problem?......Don

Is there a way to title it FIRST? then get it changed, or does your MVA have to see the title and the truck?
Does the VIN match?

Yes-I have a VIN number, but the wrong title for my trk. The DMV has to see the old title & needs to chk the VIN number for a out of state vehicle. Also for a out of state title they want a notorized bill of sale.Once you have a title you can not retitle it for that VIN no. is for that trk only.

There is a outfit in N.Y. that will get you a Calif title along w/plates for $200 plus 10 1/2% of the price you paid for it.I paid $800 for the trk thus the bill would be $300.....pricey.

I sent Broadway a E-mail to see if their paperwork is accepted by the state of Florida.

Centerline, As far as trying to get a new title because the title to my truck was lost - I can't. The title was not in my name. It was lost by a owner before me. You have to prove ownership to apply for a lost title for a out of state vehicle in Florida.

Thanks for the help guys. Don

Don,
if Fla. doesn't take it. Maryland does,
if you want to use me, send me an email, it would be an extra step and more time but should work.
no extra fees by me, just MVA fees

Ok - Here is where I stand. Broadway says FL will accept there paper work, but there is one minor prblem...they require the car to be insured even tho they do not provide plates. My car is probably 5 monthe from being driveable & each insurance Co I call requires the vehicle be 90% done to insure.

I would like to get the title now for I fear that I will end up w/a 20k truck w/no title.

The title paperwork for $75.00 would be great. This looks like my besr shot.

Thanks bchevy for your proposal & thanks to Denny B your info is the best yet

Your Insurance Co. has to SEE the truck?
I only have to send a pic, and that's if it's over $5k in value....

Well-The bed is off the chassis & the doors & front sheet metal are not mounted, So The pictures will not show it being 90% done. It's probably close to it but it does not look like it from the pictures.

CH stands for a 1948 Chevy 4 door sedan.

I am currently searching for a insurance co, that does not require it to be 90% done to insure it....Don

Lightbulb Gotta find a freind who understands the hassles!

I have a truck that I have special "Vanity" plates for, It isn't nearly finished but I renew the plates every year. Last year, the DMV wanted to see insurance coverage on it...

I went to my insurance agent (owner of the agency) and he wrote me out a certificate of insurance after I told him the deal... The DMV accepted it and I paid for the plate and registration renewal.

You just got to find the right guy or gal who loves old trucks and cars and understands the hassels we run into! My 2 cents worth... rico_bob
