55-59 throttle linkage

Hey guys, new to this side of the forum. I have a 55 that came with a straight 6, and I swapped in a V8. The issue I'm having is obviously the throttle linkage is different.
I did buy the new v8 linkage and it doesn't fit anywhere on the firewall at all. I'm thinking there is suppose to be another bracket it attaches to? Here is a pic of what I bought. Do any of you have any pics? Thanks

Re: 55-59 throttle linkage

The thinner rod goes to the carb. The bent flat piece bolts to the firewall and there should be 2 holes there for it unless someone filled them. The larger rod with the ball on the end goes to a stock accelerator pedal.

Thank you,
I have two holes but they do not match up to the new part. Plus it looks nothing like piece D on the diagram.

Re: 55-59 throttle linkage

you can download the

55-59 chevrolet truck factory assembly manual

at the trifive site for free. google it, download to a stick or your computer for future reference. you never know when these things get pulled ff the net. it has all the info on where spot welds are, dmensional drawings, how things go together etc etc.

The original ones I have have brackets that are hat shaped. This is a view from the bottom. The middle piece and lever are for the throttle (not accelerator).

Re: 55-59 throttle linkage

Did the 55-59 I6 have a engine mount bracket on the linkage like the 47-54, which means no fire wall holes that match?
I set up a V8 55-59 linkage on my 51 and welded nuts for easier installation.

Re: 55-59 throttle linkage

Thank all of you for the info. I did get it mounted, since my truck was originally a 6 I had to drill new holes.

Original 55-59 I6 had a rod that went directly from the pedal to a linkage on the engine. Great pic!
