Who is the best Parts Vendor 67-72 Suburban

What is the best vendor out there for quality not price? Really would like U.S.A. made parts. I am shopping for complete weatherstrip kit, manual steering box, auxiliary or high capacity gas tank, front springs, maybe a patch panel or two. Also looking for a good body man in Indiana. 68 K-15 Sub.

Re: Who is the best Parts Vendor 67-72 Suburban

I have been working on my 1968 K20 Suburban before burbs were cool enough for vendors to stock parts for them.

To this day none of them are "the place" to go for burb parts. You will just have to shop each and every one of them for the part you need, and the origins of the parts from all vendors are all generally from the same manufacturer.

I have found over the years of shopping burb parts, that it's all about who has them in stock for immediate shipment.

On the steering gear, you may want to check your local Napa store for price. That way you will save on shipping. (Sending your core, and receiving your new part). If you don't have a core to ship, you will pay a lot more.

lmc truck is good, but i have bought more stuff from the car and truck shop as they often have better prices. if you spend over $350 you get free shipping. they have a 3 door gasket set for burbs and the glass surround gasket on the rear lift gate was 30 bucks cheaper than the lmc part. just a few of the items i have in my most recent order.

I hate to sound like a non-loyal customer... but I use them all. Once you get on their email list, you are always getting special promo codes for deals.
I use LMC Truck, Year One, & Brothers Truck Parts.

I would say go on their website, sign up for a catalog, and when you start getting serious about buying, go with whoever is offering the best current special.

My favorite right now is Classic Truck Parts. www.classicparts.com

But like everyone is saying you have to really shop around to find Suburban parts.

Good Luck.

Re: Who is the best Parts Vendor 67-72 Suburban

don't forget CPP when it comes to chassis pieces (and not just for low rider aficionados).....sway bars, poly-graphite body mount (burb) kit, poly track bar bushings for the bigger bar on a 3/4 ton, billet aluminum tie rod sleeves (stock clamp design sucks), etc. are all items finding their way onto my truck. upgrade instead of just fixing, but keep that sleeper factory look.

i have found nearly every part i could ever need for my burb. even sheet metal patches and rear interior panels are available. lmc now carries the burb/blazer rear seat hold downs for $20 a pair. that beats the high prices people have dished out for rusty originals. the couple items i'd like to see reproduced for a burb would be the headliner and a plug in trailer harness like the pickup and blazer get.

Re: Who is the best Parts Vendor 67-72 Suburban

I would just love to see a vendor carry all three burb bench seat covers, not only that but in ALL of the correct colors and fabric designs for 67/68.

OEM cardboard headliner, wow that would be a dream come true.

Re: Who is the best Parts Vendor 67-72 Suburban

Ok everybody, thanks for the input. I have used LMC and year one before, and will check out the other suggestions.

Vectorit: OEM headliner would be awsome, Mine is in good shape but warped, think I am going to try and wet it and press it back into shape. Could also use some factory seat covers too.

Re: Who is the best Parts Vendor 67-72 Suburban

aftermarket covers are nice enough if you are doing a full resto-style interior redo. but if your truck has cloth panels instead of straight vinyl seats, hit up http://www.smsautofabrics.com/search.php if you want to exactly match the original factory material. Vectorit just put me onto this. they have both his 68 and my 72 covered.

Re: Who is the best Parts Vendor 67-72 Suburban

My best advice would be to check out the vendors who support this BB.They build trucks and use what they carry. So they tend to carry the best quality they can get.

I always use board vendors. One of them is going to have whatever you need. For my panel parts I mostly used Wes of Classic Heartbeat. At the time he had burb and panel stuff no one else was carrying.
