Gmc pauls poly tank

Anyone ever have any issues with these tanks? Installed one on my 72 and notched my bed sill. Just so happens the filler neck is right inline with the bed sill
Also the filler is only 1 1/4" o.d., anyone ever have filling issues? How'd you rout your filler tube? I know this is a topic that's veen beat to death but just needing guidance with this setup

I have a GMC Paul poly tank under my '71 4x4. Cut the bed support as you did and had to engineer my fill line but works great. Fills fast with no burps. Will try and get some pics this weekend showing the routing and how I did the fill port.

Pics of my GMC Paul poly tank. The first pic shows the fill, inside the bed on the D/S wheel well hump. Did not have the expertise to do the side marker fill which seems quite popular and the bed was prepped and primed for paint by this time. The rough texture is my Line-Ex bed liner. Used a fuel filler from an early 90's Chevrolet van. The 1 1/4'' fuel inlet posed a bit of a problem until I tried using a copper plumbing 90 degree elbow. Took it to a muffler shop and had them expand the end where it fits the van filler. Soldered everything together after a test fit to be sure on angle and length. The large fill hose is fuel line hose, that's pricey per foot!. The next smaller hose is also fuel hose for the fill vent line from the filler tube to the tank. The smaller hose is a tank vent, routed and mounted up along the wheel well, used a sintered brass hydraulic fitting for the end. The poly tank had to vent ports, one each side so I put two vent lines. All works well, just get some strange looks when I am at the gas station pumping gas in the bed of the truck.

Not sure what you soldered? Any filling problems? And what did you have expanded?

I see lol didn't read completely, where'd you but the copper 90? And was it originally 1 1/4"

The copper 90 elbow can be seen in the pic attached to the upper end of the 1 1/4'' fuel hose. Had to have it expanded just a very small amount to fit the GM van filler. I had to re-solder the van filler to "re-clock" it to the correct angle to make the fill hose route smooth with no kinks. As mentioned in the post I made, NO fill problems at all. Hope that helps with your mod.
