Wiring an old camper shell - topper - truck cap

I have an old Texson camper shell on my 71 K20. The camper has three wires coming from it. A black, white and green wire. I while back, I just spliced it into the harness headed to the tail lights. The running lights worked fine but I was having trouble getting the dome light to work consistently. I removed all my hack job splicing and put everything back the way it was.

Where is the best place to wire in this old camper.

Is your dome light (you mean the camper dome light, right) hooked up to the running lights?
