55.2-59 AC condenser

This is the condenser that came with the vintage air heritage kit. Its a vertical condenser and is no where near wide enough to attach to the core support with the supplied 1 inch brackets. Not sure if I have the correct condenser or if I need different brackets. I can run a piece of 1 inch flat stock across where the screw holes are on the top and bottom of the condenser and bolt that to the core support if I need to but does anyone make a bracket to fit? If I run the flat brackets horizontal it will fit but it just seems a little flimsy .Has anyone run into this and what should I do?

that is a typical streetrod condenser, about 16" wide. its enough condenser to cool yur truck, actually more than enough. yes you can bridge the opening in the core suport to mount it. good luck!

it does not have to be centered. unless you are worried about the look etc.

You can put one side ( the inlet outlet side) on the current support brackets with radiator. Then fun a flat stock vertical down where the other side is and attach. Once you get it in there it should be a tight fit with the cross-brace bars. I also attached to one of the cross-brace bars and I also make sure rubbing points had rubber between.

you also don't have to make it vertical you can go side to side and just put inlets on the bottom (or top)

I'd just fab up some new brackets/cross bars that fit like I wanted across the radiator support, mounted it where it fits and works including being in the air flow and call it good.
I would probably be most concerned about getting the fittings in the best spot for hose connections and routing. You could use longer bolts and spacers on the cross braces if you need to.

here are a few pics of my install on my 58 TRUK
i used the brackets to hang the condenser from the top and it didn't line up with anything.
i lowered the condenser to make one hard line fit. not sure if i made the brackets or if they were in the kit. top brackets are in radiator bolt holes, bottom brackets look like drill point screws

i never did figure out how to use the hard lines. they're probably for 55-57 core support. i lowered the condenser to line up the top line thru the bottom hole and made a hose for the bottom line to exit out the top hole. this made the bottom brackets work

under the hood the hard line on the bottom goes into a hose straight to the compressor. i hung the dryer on the hose from the condenser, 90° out of the dryer to a T for the trinary switch and to the evaporator under the dash

all 4 hoses are in a straight line on the firewall. the gray line is my electrical for the front lights, horn and compressor

i didn't like all the utilitarian look of the radiator, overflow tank, ac, horns and wires so i made this cover over the radiator.

The instructions that come with the kit are pretty much worthless. I have an 04 dodge that I'll use as an example
