2WD Tahoe Pics - Please

Has not arrived yet but recently bought an OBS '99 Tahoe 2wd for the next daily driver. Purchased out of state and having shipped in, can not find what I'm wanting locally. Maybe I'm too picky, LOL. Tahoe I purchased has set of 15'' black wheels, hard to tell in the pics just what kind of wheels they are. Tahoe is Light Pewter Metallic and not sure I'm liking the blacked out wheels and black wall tire combo. Just want some ideas of what is out there BUT.....pics must be of a 2WD Tahoe, 15'' and 5 on 5 lug, wheel options are different styles available for the 4wd units. Wish the older square body rally wheels were an option to run but another thread I posted seems to nix that idea. Have 15'' x 8'' rallies on my '71 4x4 and they work for me for the truck.
Steel or alloy wheels doesn't matter, we all know wheel and tire combinations are a personal like or dislike, LOL

Re: 2WD Tahoe Pics - Please

I ran a set of old school rallys on a 1990 OBS truck for a while.
I used the 15x6.5 van rallys on the front and I had some custom made 15x8 rallys on the back.
I sent the 15x8’s to Stockton Wheel and had the backspacing changed from 4” to 5”.
That kept them tucked under the bedsides.

If you are wanting a 15” wheel, I would use the 454SS/Sport wheels.

The OBS trucks have a wide front track width.
Especially if they are lowered.
So you have to run a fairly narrow front wheel or a bigger diameter wheel with a lot of backspacing.

Re: 2WD Tahoe Pics - Please

Bill, thanks for that link. Spent a fair bit of time looking thru all 26 pages. Some good looking Tahoes and Yukons there for sure. My incoming '99 Tahoe is a 4 door 2 wd and not sure about the wheels until it arrives. Do admit I like the SS454/Sport wheels look....may have to start saving for a set. Seems they can be pricey from looking on the 'net. Kinda like the CUCV 15'' 8'' steelies. Have a set of those I have acquired for my 71 4x4 to replace my 15'' x 8'' square body rallies. Wheels and open/closed set of caps....just haven't done the switch yet.

Re: 2WD Tahoe Pics - Please

I've never had a Tahoe, but on my trucks I liked the look of the SS wheels, but I did NOT like that they were only 15x7. I really liked the 73-87 15x8 ralleys which look great with tons or tire sizes, 255/70, 275/60 and my favorite was the 31x10.50. Alll my stuff was 2wd

Re: 2WD Tahoe Pics - Please

I had a 96 Yukon 2 WD and ran the 15x8 truck rallys with the wide trim rings but the wheels that I like the best are the Tahoe limited wheels they are super tough to find though

It's been my understanding from what I recently found is the square body rallies would NOT fit correctly, as in......riding on the lug bolts and NOT the axle centers? Do not know that by first hand, just from what I have read on a few threads. Don't think I would like riding on the strength of the lug bolts with the vehicle vibrations from the road. May not lead to a good day behind the wheel.

Re: 2WD Tahoe Pics - Please

Rims don't have to be hub centric, they can be lug centric. The rims on my 93 and my van are lug centric. Most aftermarket wheels are lug centric.

Re: 2WD Tahoe Pics - Please

I ran the rally's on a 90 I had 20+ years ago. I had it to well over 120mph, never had an issue with the wheels being lug lentric. I had a 98 2wd 4 door Tahoe with vette wheels on it. 17s up front 18s on the rear. Needed adapters, but again never had an issues with them. Had it doing 120 IIRC, and other than 200k soggy suspension it was fine. Kinda miss it actually. Its on marketplace now lol....

I'm running the 454SS wheels on my Yukon. I updated the center caps with red GMC logos from the ones in the pic.

I did not ever have any problems or vibrations for the 3 or four years that I had the truck..
Fuel pump wise well that's a different story..

A 2wd would be a nice vehicle to have. I only had 4wd pictures but I found some 2wds to save

Now I see you didn't ask for 2dr, just 2wd. I see you got your 4dr. Congratulations. I'm considering some kind of 1/2t, maybe 2wd, after running 4wd 8-luggers forever. I'll always keep one of those around for when needed, but something lighter with a tad better mpg could suit me now
