didn't think about it till now I still have the old tie rods intack ill try to put them on this wekend and see if that lines up better or is the same.

I re-read your initial post, and when you say that the tie rod is threaded all the way in, do you mean that the outer tie rod is threaded into the sleeve and it's bottoming out on the inner tie rod inside the sleeve? If so, a shortened sleeve isn't going to help you. You're fighting a tie rod length issue.

If so, then trim the outer tie rod length down 1", re-dress the threads and you'll be fine. Do yourself a favor and before you cut the length, spin the appropriate thead die on to the tie rod a couple of inches. That way, when you turn out the die to de-dress the threads, it'll establish your initial thread groove on the way out. This will make is much, much easier to thread the die back on. After that, spin the die back on and off a couple of times and test it in the sleeve to make sure it'll engage.

Yes that sounds good that will probably be what happens. We were just trying to figure out why everything was to long when all the items are for a 80 model truck is it the modular spindals with the 1 inch forward Porterbuilt arms I do n't know but going to try and figure it out. Thanks for the help.

I'm going through the same thing, Kevin. 1964 truck, 1979 suspension, Bell-tech spindles, 1 cut coil, lower control arms moved fwd 1", converted to power steering with an adapter plate, chassis Z'd 2" up. Mines a real Heinz 57.

Just wondering. Are these the QA1 from Summit?

I just called and asked about them and they said they had none to work on a 71 Chevy C-10. I ended up ordering these.

Old Edelbrock/ Now QA-1 Part #5252 will work on the 71-72 truck.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
