Pretty cool....that's why the price of trucks now exceeds the price of most cars...
Way back then a truck was about ½ the price of a car
I remember my Dad bought a new 68 GMC for $2500....

Cool video! Small side note, the 5.3 is not a 305... I wouldn’t mind having a ‘21 next to my old ones but I’m not getting rid of my old ones to get a ‘21

Re: "Please Don't take my Plywood"

We found a four year old regular cab long bed that had been bought new by some sort of contractor. So I guess you could buy a new one if you order it and wait long enough - which apparently he did. Probably you would need to plan ahead six months to a year before you actually needed it.

I used to cram myself and three gals on the bench seat of my 1973 K20

Yeah according to my math 5.0 is the same as a 307.

(I discovered that's what I have in my 89 K1500)

Re: "Please Don't take my Plywood"

Chevy used to have a 327 which was the 5.4L engine. Now they call it the 5.3L engine so it is the old 327 down sized slightly to a 323.

1 liter is 61.0237 CI, so just use the clackulator!

FWIW, the Chevy 350 engine is actually 348 CI. Guess why Chevy didn't call it that.

Rolex Ranch trucks nowadays cost a fortune, can't imagine construction workers able to swing it. Oh wait, they do around Prescott, because building is booming! I'll watch later.

Thanks for sharing the Video you seen.

As far as the C.I D. / Liter / Horsepower / Torque go

The 327 CID converts to 5.35856993 Liters

As a young guy I studied the Chilton manuels and memorized them.

I should have been looking at my School Books

As a Machinist by Trade now.

I remember how {(They)} twisted the numbers in the Late 60's /early 70's. for well known reasons

So on a positive note.

Here is a conversion of engines I remember/ Compare list.

230CID =3.77 L
235CID =3.851 L
250CID =4.1 L
265CID =4.343 L
283CID =4.64 L
292CID =4.785 L
305CID =5.0 L
307CID =5.031 L
327CID =5.3585 L
350CID =5.735 L
(383 CID) = 6.276 L
396CID =6.489 L
400CID =6.5548 L
402CID =6.5876 L
427CID =7.0 L
454CID =7.44 L

Re: "Please Don't take my Plywood"

So my 6.0 is a 366, but no relation to the medium duty truck engine?

I’m pretty sure the 6.0 is a 364,(mine is going to be a 402 after a stroker bottom end) and yes no relation to the 366 big block.

Re: "Please Don't take my Plywood"

LOL. I have a newer 4x4 quad cab Tundra. I love it all around but hate loading anything in the back. It's a SOB for this old man to get into. I don't know how many times I have wished for a bigger bed.

And like in that video, With every new truck my dad ever bought, He'd go out a buy a piece of plywood for the bed.

Re: "Please Don't take my Plywood"

yes, the liter to cubic inch conversion depends on who you ask: engineering? or marketing? ford made a lot of 5.0s that were really ~4.9s.

and used to be the bmws had their engine size on the badge (last two numbers), until marketing started messing with it in the 90s-00s. you could buy a 323i that was a 2.5 but called a 2.3 because the newer design 2.5 engine was upmarket and so it was called 325i.

and by the by, in fords the 302 had more cachet than the 351s, but the opposite is true for chevys, the 5.7 is the motor to have but the 5.0 is better used as a sewer filter according to some guys.

Yep.... unless you're talking about Chevy's 302 that was in old Z28 Camaros.

Punched out 283s, yup, that's what we called them back in the '60s.

Yeah, I used to know pretty much how hotrodders did it, and how Chevy did it. Most of that limited knowledge has since escaped my brainpan.
Didn't Chevy basically use a 327 block with a 283 crank? About all I remember is a 4" bore and a 3" stroke.
