Re: Post your 60-66 craigslist finds

This has bothered me sometime now. What the heck is with their craigslist for sale posting of one dollar? If they're doing it to get more hits, they're idiots.
You want $10,000? What is their thinking? If I search for anything less than $5000, do they really think I'm going to say: Hey! here is one for 1 dollar! Hello out there. I flag your listing, idiot.

Re: Post your 60-66 craigslist finds

O.K. not Craigs List, but found this in a Mag that caters to mostly high end sports car collectors.
A 1/2 ton Camper Special with a 348 and 3 on the tree ??? They say it's "rare". Sounds like an understatement.
I'll say one thing, they sure are proud of it.
What's the opinion out there?

Seems like some "firsts". Never heard of a C10 Custom Camper (proper name), there's that, then on a short frame too? Don't think I've heard of a 348
installed in a light truck either. Hmmm.

I never heard of a 348 in a pick up either. I think he's blowing smoke .....

Is this the same one? Says 348 in description, but has "409" stickers on valve cover... https://www.dupontregistry.com/autos...et/c10/2519357

Just because it is rare doesn't mean it is valuable. At least not that valuable.

If I had $110k to throw at a truck, I'd buy 11 $10k trucks.

It looks like it. I believe either engine would be bogus in that truck though.

X3. Prices are just getting stupider...and people are paying them. I sold my '64 Impala convertible for $2k in '82. I saw one on CL for $82k. and I pretty much guarantee that it doesn't have everything done to it, like mine did.

The ad says it has the Protecto Plate. That plate will have the engine code. I would like to see the plate before I pass judgement on the engine. Original copy of a build sheet would be nice to see as well if you claim you have something truely rare. The Camper Special ( Custom Camper) thing does appear to be a scam, even though it has the correct '65 version of the Custom Camper emblem. Other than that, it does look like super high end work and in my book, should be worth as much as any other high end 2 door desirable muscle car in that era!

Who wrote that quote ? No way a Camper Special short bed 348 was EVER produced . COPO orders were on a list if they were available , they did not just do whatever they wanted. Totally fake truck.
