1969 c10 build, input needed. Boss 338's, ECE 4/6 drop

I'm new here, been lurking here awhile for info. Have always loved the 67-72 c10's and finally had the opportunity to snatch one up. Very little rust, 355 with a th350. Always liked the fleet side trucks but the step side is growing on me. I don't plan on doing anything to the paint.........for now. Just planning on rocking the patina look. Have decided that I want to go with the 20x8.5 and 20x10 boss 338's in gray wrapped in 255/40/20 and 295/40/20's. Will be doing the ECE 4/6 drop with the disc brake kit in the front to 5x5 lug conversion. Found a set of Yukon rear axles for the 69 with the 5x5 conversion as well. Looks like my planned backspacing on the wheels is the 6.23 for the rear and the 5.24 for the front. Anyone see any holes in my plan? Think with the revised back spacing I will be able to squeeze the 338's in there with the narrow 69 axle or will I still need to plan on spacers? Sorry if this has been covered already, I have done some searching, but can always use a nudge in the right direction.

Did a little research. Decided I wanted to do a 71 or 72 rear axle. Ended up finding a complete truck. So plan on using the front disc brakes, rear axle, and a few other odds and ends off of it. Rumor is now that the boss wheels I am wanting are on backorder.

Tell me more about the Yukon axle swap? What year axles will work in the 67-69 axle housing? Have you done this swap before? Love the step side!

Thanks, Wade

Unsure what other years but vs the ECE conversion axle kit which is around $300 the Yukon axle kit is $185. I haven't done the swap and won't now since I have the 72 rear end.

Here is the link to the Yukon shafts

Thank you very much, I'm pretty partial to it myself!

I recognize that truck from KC Craigslist. Looks like a pretty nice parts truck.

That's it! It's pretty straight, has the typical rust....and driver side of the bed is loaded up with bondo.

If they were grey I would consider them, all said and done I should be able to get into a new set for around that $1500 mark.

I seen it on Craigslist for a long time. Seemed like a pretty good deal. Good luck with your project.

Yeah, I'm new to the game but $500 seemed like an awesome deal. Thanks, I'm looking forward to making some headway!

Ordered tires today. Toyo proxes 255/40/20 and 295/40/20. My local tire guy couldn't get toyos, but could get the pirellis.....but the pirellis were twice as much! I ended up ordering them from onlinetire.com. $677.98 shipped, best deal I could find. Seemed very reasonable!

Well that escalated quickly.......ordered cpp kit today 4.5/6. Along with a c notch. Ordered the wheels as well. He has the front in stock but rears are on back order. Also came across a smoking deal on a LS, so pulled the trigger on that as well. This is going to be fun!

Good deal on tires, my tire guy wanted $400 a piece. I'll have to remember this at a future time.

Re: 1969 c10 build, input needed. Boss 338's, ECE 4/6 drop

Finished up the c notch and rear suspension Friday after getting the 72 rear axle under neath it. Started in on the front. Still on disassembly up there. Did pull the steering parts and brake parts off the 72 parts truck. I ended up going with the 4.5/6 cpp drop, the guy that I ordered the 338's from is a cpp dealer so that made things easier. Weighed out my options on building my own mounts or just doing bolt in and decided to go with the cpp ls swap kit, figured for the money it couldn't be beat. Hope to have front drop on and motor sitting in truck by the end of the week.

Re: 1969 c10 build, input needed. Boss 338's, ECE 4/6 drop

Finished up front end on truck. Got the disc brakes on, drop spindles and springs. Switched over the 72 parts truck steering setup. Installed new balljoints while I was at it. Not super pleased at the moment the way the truck is sitting, seems to be sitting a little high in the front.

Was able to get motor set it as well. All the cpp ls install stuck is super nice. Had whittle on the frame a little to get the crossmember to fit, but besides that it was very straight forward. Have all my fuel system stuff on order so it should be finished up by the end of next week. A lot of details to wrap up. Wheels should be here hopefully in the next two weeks.

Do you happen to part out Jeeps? If so, I have bought some jeep parts from you in the past for my CJ. It's good to see someone with the exact same taste in vehicles Nice looking project. My truck has a similar setup as your build, if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. Welcome to the forum!

That would be me! Yeah, you had a 350 in your jeep correct? Thank you very much, I'm enjoying it quite a bit! Sounds good, I'll take you up on that I'm sure!

Have about everything on order, including the harness and computer tune. Just waiting on rear wheels to come off back order. Lots of little details to wrap up.

Started plumbing fuel lines tonight. I want to eventually go with a new tank in between the frame rails, but the tank behind the seat will work for now considering the previous owner just installed it.

Took the sending unit out and cut the pickup tube off and slid a walbro 255 in tank pump on. Wired it all up, used an isolater off another sending unit to get power into the tank. I think it turned out pretty good, besides the jb weld that I had to use to seal the return line I setup.

Still need to plumb tranny cooler lines, but should be ready to fire it as soon as the harness shows up.

Harness and computer showed up. Still waiting on rear wheels to deliver, the weather has all the shipments backed up from what I am being told. Hope to get everything finished up on it this week if all goes as planned.

It was $650 shipped with computer tune as well. Little more then I have for the two Cj7's I put 5.3's into, but didn't want to wait for him to get to mine. I'm running the 4l60.

Got rear wheels picked up and had everything mounted and balanced. Got to put them on the truck today. The rear seems low for what I expected and the front seems high. I do like where the rear sits, going to see what I can do about getting the front lower.
