No i didn't mod the hinges, however, after seeing the discussion in your thread asking if it's needed or not, i went out and took a look at mine. Since there is plenty of room in there when aired up, i took some pics from inside the wheel well with the hood closed. I definitely need to trim the hinges as they look as if they'd slice the tire in two if they ever came in contact with the tread.

fortunately, i don't see my tires ever actually going up that high into the fender. for me i think it was just the tread of the tire rubbing on the bolts that hold the inner in. with your mod i have like 2" of clearance aired out.

I still haven't planned out exactly how i'm going to do the inners, however, with the cost and scarcity of good inners, i was planning on sectioning the inner, then fabbing up the filler plate from flat sheet metal. we'll see how it goes.

Question about the notch...Do you have any pics of your bump stops?? I have a 70 LWB and getting ready to notch the rear too...and want to see how low I can get before hitting the bed floor. Thanks...

seriously though, i didn't put them in. I had planned to, but i wanted to see what it was like w/o them. I've never had a BANG! yet, and i somewhat frequently drive with the rear end completely aired out on pretty smooth roads though.

probably won't have many updates until this fall. I've decided to build a 4 bolt 350 and drop it in this winter. not sure what i'm gonna do with it just yet, but i've got a few unique ideas up my sleeve.

Doesnt your rear diff hit the bed floor?? Or did you make some mods that I missed over your build?

He told me he cut the wood in the bed for the rear diff to clear. So, yes, it would hit w/out it.

yeah, that's also on the plans for this fall. the bed floor of the truck needs some serious attention. i cut a rough hole for the pumpkin, and another for the gas filler. then there are the two from rotted wood...

more than likely gonna go steel, and will do some sort of hump to get over the pumkin.

i like the look of a wood floor but if youre using the truck where its made for a steel floor is better , you could raise it an inch or 2 and make it a flat floor that way you raise the inner fenders too and get room for the tires too

also considering doing that as well. bit more work, but will give a cleaner look. also thinking about widening the wheel wells a bit too. but i need to pull a wheel off and see what's gonna hit the tire first, the frame or the wheel well.

saturday i drove down to the truck store (Art's Classic Trucks) and picked up a few things. Got the red side markers i've been waiting for, a new (used) heater control to replace mine, and a couple clips for the arm rests.

I also picked up a new black dash pad. can't wait to get it installed (yet i'm being really lazy to day so i don't know if it will get done today or not).

ok, so progress was made, but not on the stuff listed above.

on sunday i was taking the kids to the arcade and when i tried to come to a stop in a parking lot, foot went to the floor and i kept rolling forward. thankfully no one was near me.

limped it home and about took out the garage wall parking it.

anyways, tonight i went out and got a new booster and MC and replaced them both. i figure for $100, why not do them both. so, now i have brakes again. I can't tell you how long it's been since i've come to a stop w/o the brake light on.

i feel much safer now. especially for the 3 hr drive to KC tomorrow.

Nice build I really enjoyed your thread. I know what its like to do that. Last year I was going to a friends house. Came to the stop sign and went right on threw. Scared the crap out of me. My E break was broke so I couldnt use it to stop. All was good no cars going by so I went home the gravel road way so I could drive slow. I had my breaks re done on the old girl new drums, breaks and kits had the E break fixed to. The rear drums cost me a ass load each. They are made different then the normal drums and the factory only had 2 left that had been setting for 20 years lol. But all in all she stops and the E break works now.

You have 4 valves total for front and rear.???? Do you get any transfer from side to side?

i have 8 valves total. 4 fill and 4 dump. there are four manifolds, two on each side of the frame.

well, the truck is now parked for the winter. loaded it up with some other "summer stuff" and drove it up to my parents where it will sit in a building for the next few months.

I also took some time to clean out my garage. Today is the first day in 18 months of living here that two vehicles have been in it at the same time. I'm living the high life now!

that is a BEAUTIFUL truck! you have inspired me to bag my truck! but i have a few question, what did you do on the front end? as far as bags, etc? any pics of that? and is it not neccesary to tub the rear end for tire clearence? where did you get the bag kit for the rear? and lastly, what size are your tires? thanks ALOT!
