Re: NO-E street build

I have been researching how to keep the A/C on the truck and this is what i came up with . Thes two are made by Alan Grove . Gonna have to do some measuring to order the correct one , but this is the ideal . Mounting the compressor where the fuel pump would be . Which is where it is located now . No hose changes except for up from at the condensor . I'll have to move it to make room for the larger aluminum radiator .

Re: NO-E street build

Neither of the low mounts will work . The Idle steering arm is in the way of the higher one . I measured off the yellow truck . Also the lower radiator hose coming from the radiator would be up against the clutch of the compressor . The belt was already goning to be close to the hose .

Re: NO-E street build

No pics today due to rain , but i dropped it off at the chassis shop for the motor mounts to be welded in and the pinion angle to be set . Preches will be adjusted and plated for strength . They are going to build a shifter stand while they got it also .

Re: NO-E street build

Ran into a snag . Motor mounts were welded in 3/4 " to far forward . This would not allow me to get the water pump and fan installed . Back to the chassis shop for thr mounts to be cut out and moved . Also had a few other things done . Had hooks weled to the frame to strap truck down , panels made for speakers in rear cab corners , battary tray cut out & a set of universal traction bars cut up and welded to the rear shock mounts . Pics to follow .

Re: NO-E street build

Thanks Hart rod , it's getting there .

Got some time to workon this . I dont think im going to have it ready for the season opener , but im trying .

This is the material for the interior . I am having the door panels , seat , kick panels redone .

I got the cooling system completed yesterday . I bypassed the cable heater block valve , as i have never had one that didnt leak . I added a manual valve for summer when the air is on . Got the Condensor and liquid line filter drier mounted and hooked up . All that is left is the compressor mount and hook ups for A/C . Well enough talk here is the current picks .

Did a little more on it , but not much . Not going to make the season opener with it . I was planning to have my wife drive it and contend for rookie of the year .

Re: NO-E street build

Upolstry off for redo . Door panels , seat and kick panels . Factory tank is being sumped modded and coated . Glass is out for new winsheild gasket and rear window seal . Dash repair in progress for new dash cap . Stereo going in new speaker panels covered and onstalled . Lots of little stuff done . Throttle pedal modified and cable fitted and installed . Choke cable installed ( this will also double as a staging RPM tool with the choke flap removed ) . Reused one of the vapor recovery lines from the tank as vacuum for modulator valve . Moved wires around in harness to make factory relays work for fuel pump and distributor instead of ballast bypass and combo fuel pump/distributor . Truck is getting really close .

Thanks , it is open exhuast ( Hooker block huggers with 2.5" head pipes )right now so it is pretty load . The thermostat stuck closed so i pulled it out and that helped . These things make some heat when they are new . Fuel system is -8 from the sumped factory tank to a summit inline filter then -8 to a Holley blue pump . I installed a Fram HP1 cartrige type filter after that and then -6 to the regulator up front . I bought a 650 Holley double pump for this thing off the holley EBay sight for a really good price , but i found out why the price was so good . The front accellerator pump arm was bound up on the roll pin . the cam lever with the spring loaded bolt couldn't make the front pump squirt . I tapped out the roll pin and filled ot square and chamfered the pin hole , good as new . Set the initial timing at 14 and it seems really happy there .

I have it scheduled for exhaust next wendsday . Finish the driveshaft monday . Glass install tuesday.

Upolstry should be finished tuesday also . I got the dash fixed and the rear speakers installed . The carpet and padding will follow the glass install . It has been alot of work .
