aftermarket door shells for 72 k10

Any news on the quality of the repop door shells? My doors are pretty beat from rusting out under the molding. I did a search and it seems like there were some issues when they first came out, but also I saw some indication that the tooling had been upgraded and maybe some of the more recent products have improved.

Thoughts?

Personally, I don’t have experience with the aftermarket shells. If I were to order aftermarket shells I’d order from classic heartbeat or GMC Pauls because they both sell the best stuff available. That said, there used to be a couple of different guys on Craigslist in PA and NY that were bringing Rust free OE sheet metal from out here and selling it your way. Might be worth looking into. As of earlier this year a couple guys in PA had a bunch of rust free sheet metal.

I bought a pair of tri plus in early summer and they fit great! They seem to have the issue with the hoops solved and are well worth the money in my opinion.

Re: aftermarket door shells for 72 k10

I had a customer send me a pair don't recall the name on the box but they were too tall to fit in the door "pocket". As crazy as it sounds to figure it all out I put in the wing glass and it was WAY off so I ended up drilling out the spots that hold the "hoops" on to the doors [ That is what I call the parts where the glass sits] knocking them out cutting them down and welding them back in. That may be more work than some want to do or some may not have that many tools but that is what I did to make the new doors I had to work with fit.Jim
