Which hubs are actually on this truck? Got a pic by chance?

Re: d60 no lock.

The grease is probably frozen, or so hard that things are not functioning properly is my guess.

When was the last time they were serviced?

Re: d60 no lock.

I'd use this as an opportunity to go through the disc brakes, and to upgrade to a quality set of after market hubs.

I have used Warn and Mile Marker hubs, but there are some guys here that speak highly of Superwinch hubs.

As for the grease, I have no idea as to a specific brand or type.
I'd probably find a shop that works on stuff like this in your area and ask for their opinion regarding cold weather lube for this type of application.

Re: d60 no lock.

The factory hubs are Warns. They need cleaning, then no grease, just old them up good with a heavy oil. Grease gums them up and also makes them hard to turn. If you use any grease at all, just use a little on the smooth parts that move against each other. Don't "pack" them. The grease from the spindle will take care of things, though. It's not hard to take them off and install again. It's best to have a manual,of course,or search your computer for a video on YouTube,a PDF file from the factory manual,or something like that.
