They probably bought it for scrap price back in the day because they thought it'd be cute to have in front of their store, then the prices for those trucks shot up and like you said, someone surprised them with a lot of money for what they thought was an old piece of junk.

Time to catch up on some sightings. The first one I saw at Sunset Speedway in Banks OR. I believe it is a retired track truck. I also spotted a 71/72 Cheyenne on the track grounds later but it was too dark to get a picture.

The next one passed me on I-5 north bound. Slammed on large wheels. It was almost faster than my quick draw camera.

Then a pair of earlier ones seen in North Portland.
