Re: LIL ERV the 50

Curious why you decided to lose the Corvette seats after figuring out the arm rests, mounts etc? I DO agree the Silverado seats have a fatter, squatter look more in keeping with the rounder general shape of the AD trucks. Do you plan to design a center console afterall? Will there be an under dash valance for AC or anything?[/QUOTE]

The Corvette seats, If you look at post 108 you can see the head rest is way up in the back window. It really shows from the outside. I'm still not sure what i'll use for seats yet. Been to the junk yard a week or so ago and found some black Audi seats really sweet.

Center console. That depends on the seats, Vette seats are narrow lots of room. Silverado seats much fatter so no console.

Valance for A/C. No, I have an under dash ac unit that i'm going with.

In this before and after shot. Is that at ride height? Seems high for 6" front drop. But that's about the height I would want. I saw the jack under the front so I wasn't sure.

Also what wheel and tire size and offset are you using?

I have a line on a free C10 setup but wondering how to decide how much drop I'll need.

Re: LIL ERV the 50

In the before shot the jack held the front up so new tires would hit fender lip.

Wheels are 17" x 7" with 4.5" back space.

The drop, I have 3" drop spindles I did remove the 3" drop coils and replaced them with 1.5" drop coils because the BBC really pushed the front down. I would have kissed every speed bump out there.

Free c10 setup. If I were to do this again I would cut the saddle in half remove the amount needed reweld it together, I seen this done before and looks like a lot less work.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. If I use it I plan to shorten the saddle to fit. I'm just not sure if I can get away without cutting the A arms or not.

If you cut the saddle 4 in wouldn't you have to do a lot of frame work to get it to fit? Thanks Rich

From what I've seen people do is after the saddle is cut they will do 1 of 2 things, use wheels with a 2" greater offset or put on shorter a-arms.

I am not a fan of cutting the frame.

It looks like the stock 85 wheels will fit with the saddle cut and shortened. The outer measurements tire to tire fit just inside the fender. With 1/2 removed should be enough clearance for the tire to tuck a little bit. I'm just not sure if I want to keep it stock or start modifying it yet.

Re: LIL ERV the 50

Thanks for the info. I cut the frame on my 56 GMC and added a Camaro front clip. The hardest part was getting the front clip and bumper to fir right. It does ride and drive nice.

Re: LIL ERV the 50

I'm subscribing to this one. I'm dying to know how it's going to ride and handle with the shortened a-frames. Seems like it might change something. Maybe a bit choppy on the ride. Dunno.
I just bought three ADs from my neighbor and one looks to have an 80 something front saddle/suspension under it. The bodies not on it and I don't know if it ever was after the mod. I think it's something they didn't research and that stock wheels/tires would be sticking out and probably hit the front fenders on a good bump. My neighbor didn't do the work. He got them that way and all of it was probably done before internet days. Tape measures did however.

Up date, still in painters prison most of paint is done. My guest bed room is full of box sides and small stuff and rear fenders. My wife is ok with it so far!

Re: LIL ERV the 50

I thought it might be a tri five color! riviera blue is really close. I had a minitruck that we jambed out in riviera years ago, the guy who bought it primered it in riviera but never finished it any more than the jambs and bumper
