Recommended mileage for shock replacement time 2018

I own a 2018 crew cab 4x4 1500 Silverado with 49,000 miles.
In all my previous owned trucks I would replace all shocks at 50,000 miles, it was relatively cheap and easy to do myself, worth the comfort and piece of mind which I believe help keep my front end parts lasting the high miles I got along with the tires. Well now that this truck has struts up front it will now be a bit more to replace due to needing and alignment along with the new fully packaged sturts which is my understanding. I got one quote for $ 650.00 to do all four corners, a bit of a shell shock for me. I think I'll take on the replacement myself but have no way of doing the alignment which is about $140.00,,, BOOM!!!
So my question is what miles do you all out there think is a time to replace. As I mention I like the comfort and piece of mind but man how the prices changed.
I don't beat my truck, well,,,besides driving on Jersey roads lol.
Thanks for any thoughts

In my experience time does as much damage to shocks as mileage.

So when you feel they are not to your liking comfort, safety, or performance wise. Replace them

But I would say you have another 4 years pretty easy.

I’ve replaced plenty of struts in the 2014-2018 Silverados and you can remove them without affecting alignment.

It may be a bit surreal, but the original shocks on my 2008 built in August 2008 are still good with 71,000 miles on them!

I'll tell you what, the days of $9 shocks are long gone!
I recently looked up rear shocks for my 91 pkup. Cheapest priced ones were $50 a piece.
My gauge for replacement has always been a visual inspection and if the shocks were the least bit wet looking, they are leaking oil and are bad. Another test is if the vehicle bounces more than twice after a dip in the road they were suspect.
