Re: Doin '69

Well not much of an update but front end is back one and the engine is almost done.

Things left to do:

Valve covers
Carb
Fluids

Here are pics

I also started welding up all the holes from the tool rack that was on the truck at one time and other random holes

Also had a little accident while putting some stuff in the bed

Re: Doin '69

Not much of an update. I picked up a fender, cowling and the tail light housing bed pieces. I picked them up from low&slow. He is a great kid and a pleasure to chat with.

And pics

When I got home I proceeded to skin the bed corners so I can graft them into my bed.

Tonight I worked on the fender a little bit. Someone at one time used a slide hammer to pull some dents and then just bondoed over the holes. So tonight I welded them up.

Before

During

After

Well there might not be very many updates for awhile. I'm being released from the military(not by my choosing). So, I'm going to be moving back home to Texas in a few weeks. When I get settled in I'll get back at it.

Re: Doin '69

Glad I could help out. It's good that you got to use some pieces off of it. The rest of the bed minus the headboard and the core support and dash and doors and inner fenders all went to the scrap yard and got crushed. Still have the rear end and all that back there, the frame, and the cab, but hopefully after today, the cab will be cut up and scrapped.

Still have a lot of other stuff. If you need anything, let me know. I'll ship to Texas.

Fender is on and hit with some primer

I'll smooth it out after I get settled in Texas.

Re: Doin '69

Tonight I started piecing the bed pieces together. I think it's coming together good so far.

Also got my new rear window put in this past weekend.

Re: Doin '69

So, its been a few years since I've been able to get anything done with this truck. A lot has changed in my life since my last post. Last time I posted up on here I was being let go from active duty military. Well, since then I got in to the guard, got a divorce then got medically retired from the military after 18 years in. Now, I'm finally in a place to be able to work on the '69.

Most resent was a few weeks ago I picked up a 2002 5.3 with a transmission. And here are pics

When I picked it up

The next weekend I tore it down

I have the complete harness too. Just need to figure out what I'll need to keep and what I can lose.

Till next time!!

Re: Doin '69

Nice! What's the plan for the engine? Cam, intake, super/turbo charger, stock rebuild, or just clean it up and stuff it in the truck?

Plans are complete rebuild with a mild cam, intake mani and get it in the truck. Then after the kinks are worked out I'll be throwing my Holset turbo on it.
